ALegend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomplayer recently took to the skies in an impressive custom biplane. Link has quite a few new tricks inTears of the Kingdom, the most notable one being his newfound ability to craft virtually anything the player controlling him can think up using the natural resources scattered about the open world of Hyrule. For the most part, this has been used to build awe-inspiring vehicles like colossal spider-mechs, horse-drawn mobile homes, and eventhe occasional makeshift Batmobile inTears for the Kingdom.

This isn’t confined to the ground either, as manyTears of the Kingdomplayers have shown off incredible flying machines that can be used to ascend to airborne areas like the Sky Islands. Prominent examples include a flying death machine with lasers to blast any enemies in Link’s way, jerry-rigged stone platforms that can carry dozens of Korok into Hyrule’s uppermost atmosphere, and energy-efficient aircraft that can generate infinite amounts of electricity and fly forever without Link needing to use up any of hisvital Zonai batteries.

Reddit user SaladCartographer recently showed off their own custom-madeTears of the Kingdomflying machine on theTears of the Kingdomsubreddit: a biplane seemingly inspired by the old aircraft of the 1920s. SaladCartographer’s version is instead powered by a pair of wind turbines attached to its wings, with Link using a makeshift lever in the center to steer it toward the floating islands above Hyrule. Other Reddit users have complimented SaladCartographer on their impressive flying rig, with some even giving suggestions on how to make it even more like a real-life biplane.

Just likeBreath of the Wildbefore it,Tears of the Kingdomhas been an overwhelming hitfor the Nintendo Switch ever since it launched to near-universal acclaim earlier this year. Part of that success comes from the game’s massive open-world environment and free-form approach to exploring it, which allow players to tackleTears of the Kingdom’s main plot and side quests any way they see fit. The game’s crafting mechanics have also proven extremely popular, with some fans even starting online databases for other players to display their impressive creations.

Yet another example ofTears of the Kingdom’s explorationand the creativity it generates is SaladCartographer’s newly built makeshift biplane, which looks almost identical to its real-life counterparts and does an impressive job of carrying Link through the skies above Hyrule.Tears of the Kingdomhas taken the gaming world by storm for the better part of 2023 so far, and this likely won’t be changing anytime soon thanks to the many unique vehicles and other creations players are putting together using Link’s Fuse and Ultrahand powers.
