While that hasn’t stopped some fans from looking for him, it’s highly unlikely that Kass is currently part of the new game’s roster. WithTears of the Kingdomsales being off to a strong start, someone would have plausibly stumbled upon Kass by now if he truly was present in the game. This ostensible omission does not appear to be accidental, as suggested by the fact that Nintendo sprinkled a number of references to Kass throughoutTears of the Kingdom.

Most notably,Tears of the Kingdomplayers can still find Kass’s family in Rito Village. And while his wife doesn’t mention her suspiciously missing husband, his kids do reference “dad” in one of their lines. Another Rito musician makes a passing reference to Kass at the end of one major quest, although he only refers to him as a “bard.” Finally,Tears of the Kingdomcontains an Easter eggreferencing a reward that Kass gives to the players at the end of The Champions' Ballad DLC forBreath of the Wild.

Given that state of affairs, it’s still possible that Kass might make an appearance in a futureTears of the KingdomDLC. Such a turn of events wouldn’t be unprecedented, given how The Champions' Ballad expansion previously introduced a number of additional characters toBreath of the Wild. On top of that, the final piece of DLC forBreath of the Wildalso substantially expanded on Kass’s backstory and gave him a central role in its overarching quest.

Nintendo hence already established a precedent for Kass-centricZeldaDLC. And while the company has yet to confirm that additional content for its latest title is currently in the works, the game’s massive commercial success and Nintendo’s post-launch support forBreath of the Wildboth suggest thatThe Legend of Zelda:Tears of the KingdomDLC is only a matter of time.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis available now on the Nintendo Switch.
