Each new phase forWorld of Warcraft Classic:Season of Discoverybringsnew Runes for every class, including a variety of new Paladin Runes forSoD Phase 4. In addition to new P4 Paladin Runes for the Cloak slot, there are a variety of Paladin Ring Runes to choose from which grant a variety of skill bonuses, intended to level the playing field at max level.
Though there are lots of new Paladin Runes that complement those introduced inPhase 1 and Phase 2, andin Phase 3, some of these older Runes may have been removed and replaced, or changed entirely. This guide details what the new Paladin Cloak Runes and Paladin Ring Runes do in SoD P4, and explains what (if any) Runes were removed and replaced with new options.
Updated July 16, 2025 by Erik Petrovich: There are three new SoD P4 Paladin Cloak Runes, and several new Phase 4 Paladin Ring Runes, that players can collect in the latest phase for Season of Discovery. After a particularly productive weekend after the release of SoD Phase 4, Paladin Runes locations have all been discovered. This guide has been updated to include detailed instructions to find all new Paladin Runes Phase 4 introduced, including specific coordinates to help you hone in on the exact location of every new Paladin Rune SoD P4 players can get.
Shield of Righteousness Effects
How To Get Shield of Righteousness Rune: The SoD Shield of Righteousness Rune location is in the Eastern Plaguelands. Go to the Undercroft and look for a Slack-Jawed Ghoul elite enemy roaming a wide area vaguely to its the east.
Speak with Orthas after defeating the Ghoul to get the first of three quests, then find their Ornate Warhammer in a house in Corrin’s Crossing. Talk to Orthas to get the next part of the quest, and kill any Abomination-type enemy in the zone to get the Partially-Digested Plate Armor item.
Finally, summon Orthas again to get the last quest, and form up a group to go to Stratholme. You need to go to the undead side to defeat Maleki the Pallid, who drops a necrotic Runestone. Then, go back to the Undercroft and find the Rotting Dwarf Corpse (which belongs to Orthas). Interact with it to spawn a Mysterious Chest, which contains this rune.
Shock and Awe Effects
How To Get Shock and Awe Rune: The Phase 4 Shock and Awe Rune location is in the Eastern Plaguelands, and requires you to have completed the Righteous Vengeance rune quest in the Western plaguelands After completing the Righteous Vengeance quest, talk to Squire Cuthbert again to begin working on the Shock and Awe Rune.
You will get Dalton’s Horn, which can be used to summon Squire Cuthbert to your side. Defeat mobs to level up the Squire until he hits Level 60 by questing with you – resummon him if he dies.
Then, go to the Eastern Plaguelands and locate Arkonos the Cursed, found to the north of Light’s Hope Chapel in the far east of the zone. Then, talk to Squire Cuthbert again to destroy Arkonos' magic barrier with the next step in the quest. After collecting a Scourge Shadow Scalpel from various Cult NPCs in the zone, speak with the Squire for the final time and defeat Arkonos to get this Rune.
Righteous Vengeance Effects
How To Get Righteous Vengeance Rune: The SoD Righteous Vengeance Rune location is in the Western Plaguelands. Look for a Fallen Knight NPC in Dalson’s Field, in the north of the zone, and fine Squire Cuthbert in a nearby barn. Look for the Squire’s sword nearby, and return it to him to get the next quest step. Defeat Undead in the area, then escort the Squire back to the body of the Fallen Knight NPC. Burn the Knight to get the Righteous Vengeance rune.
New Paladin Ring Runes In P4
All Paladin Ring Runes follow the same unlock method – find specific books somewhere in the world, and you will unlock Ring Runes that boost your Skill for particular class weapons and spell specializations. At Max Level, against elite higher-than-60 mobs, having a +5 to your weapon or spell skills makes it significantly less likely that you will miss attacks and casts.
Thesenew Runes give every classthe ability to boost two of their Weapon Skills, Spell Specializations, or Defense Skills by a small, but not insignificant, amount. When it comes to new Paladin Ring Runes,WoW SoDplayers have five choices.
How To Get Holy Specialization Rune: To find the Holy Specialization Rune location, head to Tyr’s Hand in the Eastern Plaguelands and look for the Red Book in a library to the north of this subarea. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (83.5, 78).
How To Get Defense Specialization Rune: To find the Defense Specialization Rune location, head to Lower Blackrock Spire, specifically to its meeting stone near the instance portal. The Red Book should be inside a side room near the Meeting Stone. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (29.5, 38).
How To Get Axe Specialization Rune: To find the Axe Specialization Rune location, go to the southwest of the Blackrock Stronghold in the southwest Burning Steppes. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (40, 34).
How To Get Mace Specialization Rune: To find the Mace Specialization Rune location, you will need to get on top of Grim Batol in the southeast of the Wetlands. This Phase 4 Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (74, 69).
How To Get Sword Specialization Rune: To find the Sword Specialization Rune location, go to Deadwind Pass to Karazhan and look for a cave near the Master’s Cellar. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (43, 74.5) inside this cave.
