Vengeance DH Best in Slot Stat Criteria

Stat Priority

The Best In Slot suggestions in this guide are based on whether the item has the 2 most important stats to the build. All items that do not appear on the tables below do not have the combination of top 2 stats. In the case of the Vengeance Demon Hunter, you have two main options:

1

2

3

4

5

Mastery

The stat priority for the Vengeance Demon Hunter can depend on what you want to focus on, as mentioned earlier. You will always want toprioritize Hasteup until the diminishing returns are too high. The amount that is optimal always depends on the situation. You can alsouse a simulatorsuch as RaidBots to see what you specifically should focus on.This is covered at the end of the guide.

For the 3rd point, if you wantmore survivability, go for Versatility. If you wantmore damage output, go for Critical Strike.

Important Notes For All BiS Lists

It is important to note that any jump in ilvl by more than 10 points almost always results in the higher ilvl item being better. If you have an upgrade of 5 ilvl or less, compare the stats based on the stat priorities to decide the better item.

When weighing options of other items not listed below, refer to the stat priority of the class and spec. Keep in mind that stats eventually have diminishing returns, so it is not required to have absolutely every slot stack the same 2 stats. For simplicity, we offer the best per slot assuming you have not capped out these stats.

The calculations for diminishing returns are as follows:

In the case where you have reached 30% in a secondary stat, an item that has a secondary stat that is lower on priority may be a better upgrade. This is why it is always important to sim your gear. For simplicity, we offer the best per slot assuming you have not capped out these stats.

The amount that is optimal always depends on the situation. You can alsouse a simulator, such as RaidBots,to see what you specifically should focus on. We have a section at the end of this guide tolearn how to sim your gear.

Vengeance Demon Hunter BIS Gear

The items appearing in these lists may come fromMythic+, Raids, or The Vault. Their item level will depend on the instance’s level of difficulty (Normal, Heroic, Mythic, Mythic+ 1-20). This list does not include Renown or Crafting items as it is meant as a guide on what dungeons or raids to attend to get your best gear from these sources.

Item tooltips will show theMythic 9 or the Normal Raiddifficulty item level version.

Best Head

There is really only one option here that drops from the raid. There are no Mythic+ drops that have both haste/crit or haste/vers. We’ve included a high Vers option included here if you are unlucky on loot.

Vault of the Incarnates

Back to Item Menu

Best Neck

The Eye is going to be BiS for Damage and the Chain will be BiS for Survivability. the Eye is still going to be the next best for Survivability due to the higher haste, but there are other Vers options as well.

Pendant of the Stormforger

Best Shoulders

There are only 2 shoulder pieces that have perfect stat selection. All other pieces are second to these.

Amice of the Enlightened

Best Back

With so many options for the back slot, players can go almost anywhere and snag one of the best in slot pieces.

Cape of the Duskwatch

Best Chest

The Tier chest piece is by far the best option for both specs due to the insanely high haste value, but there are other options as well.

Best Wrist

There is really only one option here and that’s the top pick, if you’re unlucky with drops there is a haste/mastery option from Algeth’ar Academy.

Worse alternative

Best Hands

Unfortunately, there are no Haste + Versatility gloves in Mythic+ or in Vault of the Incarnates in season 1. There is a Haste/Crit option and a Crit/Vers option here if unlucky with drops.

Best Waist

For both survivability or damage get the 1st option. The 2nd is also another option but with more Crit to focus on Damage. If you are looking for more Vers there’s a 3rd option that has high Vers and some Mastery.

Best Legs

The only leg pieces with perfect survivability stats are located in the raid Vault of the Incarnates. There are 3 options for damage-focused Demon Hunters, the tier legs are okay but have low haste vs crit.

Best Feet

The feet slot is another sparce looking slot to fill with the top 2 priorities stats. There are currently no pieces with Haste/Vers in Mythic+ or Raids, so the next best thing will be to grab Haste/Crit. There’s not even a high Versatility option anywhere to be found from instances.

Best Rings

Lots of good options for higher damage with Haste/Crit. There is also a high Vers option that, fortunately, also has Haste as well!

Best Trinkets

There are many trinkets available and they all do something unique. It has always been difficult to gauge what trinkets will really come out on top of others. There may be other options out there that will perform better on specific encounters, but the general consensus is that these are the best ones.

Best Weapons

Stormslash is currently the uncontested #1 due to its special proc, adding additional damage into the mix.

How To Simulate To Determine Your Best Gear

Raidbots is a tool that World of Warcraft players can use to figure out if the gear they just looted is an upgrade. As mentioned earlier, there are so many nuances and diminishing returns as certain points in the game, that determining an exact set of bis gear is impossible. With the ilvl scaling of Mythic+ loot on higher keys and utility different gear has for different fights, there just isn’t a pure “this is the absolute best for the entire Season” list. It’s even something that certain classes have come across inClassic Wrath!

Don’t worry, because we’re still here to help. Wehighlyrecommend usingraidbotsto determine if an item you just acquired is an upgrade. Here’s a quick guide to help you run simulations to see if your new item is an upgrade:
