Blizzard Entertainment releasedWorld of Warcraftway back in 2004, and the MMO continues to get updated with new zones, raids, weapons, armor, and PvP systems. The Shuffled Brawls added in 2020 ushered in a new era ofplayer versus playercontent which is receiving changes for the first time in a while with an upcoming patch.Blizzard Entertainmentrecently confirmed that it is making changes to the Solo Shuffle PvP Brawl system that will likely balance the player versus player experience in such Brawls.World of Warcraftwill be scaling players with extremely low item levels to item level 239 in order to combat issues that make some players significantly more powerful than others depending on the gear they have. These adjustments to the PvP Brawl system are being made based on fan feedback, which suggests that many players who were struggling to enjoy the PvP Brawls will have a better chance at competing with higher item level players.RELATED:World of Warcraft to Announce Next Expansion Pack in AprilBecause there are still manyWorld of WarcraftPvP players who have gear that exceeds item level 239, these items won’t be affected by the scaling affecting lower item level players in the near future. The item level upgrades coming for lesser gearedWorld of Warcraftplayers is specific to those queuing for Solo Shuffle Brawl, so players doing Battlegrounds or Arena will be unscathed by the anticipated patch. SomeWorld of Warcraftfans have suggested that item level 239 still isn’t high enough as some players are still well above that, but these changes should make queuing for Brawl’s less intimidating for lesser geared players.

Explaining why these changes are coming to Solo PvP Shuffle Brawls specifically,World of Warcraft: Shadowlandsdevelopers have said “while we want players to be able to jump into this new experience as soon as possible, a player with extremely low HP is quickly identified as an easy kill target for each round, resulting in a predictable match for all parties involved.” Item level 239 was chosen as the new middle ground as the number matches with honor gear that hasn’t been upgraded in an effort to put more emphasis on “meaningful power progression.”
