Summary

World of Warcrafthas implemented universal Dragonriding ability unlocks for the Eastern Kingdoms Cup. This meansWorld of Warcraftplayers as low as level 30 can participate in these old world Dragonriding events without needing a character at max level.

The Eastern Kingdoms Cup is a Dragonriding race event featuring 14 races spread across the zones ofone of the originalWorld of Warcraftcontinents. From now through October 17, characters of level 30 or higher can run these races in their normal, Advanced, and Reverse courses to earn Riders of Azeroth badges, which can be traded with NPCs in Valdrakken, Stormwind, or Orgrimmar for a transmog set or several new Dragonriding drake customizations.

Participating in the Eastern Kingdoms Cup is easier than ever thanks to a new changeWorld of Warcraftmade. Normally, in order to unlock all the extra Vigor and abilities for Dragonriding, players must collect all theglyphs on the Dragon Isles inDragonflight, meaning players without a level 70 character cannot get every upgrade, and those without a level 60 character can’t use any of them. However,World of Warcraftsenior gameplay software engineer Karazaa confirmed players will temporarily have all Dragonriding abilities unlocked during these old world races, even if they don’t have them normally.

WhenWorld of Warcraftheld the Kalimdor Cup in August and September, it added the NPCs in Orgrimmar and Stormwind to enable players to pick up the breadcrumb quest and spend their badges at lower levels, but players without max-level characters wouldn’t be able to get the Gold medal on every race without every glyph. Now, even new players can master these challenging courses.

This is great news for fans of Dragonriding inWorld of Warcraft. Events for old-world races in Outland, Northrend, Pandaria, and the Broken Isles have already beendiscovered on theWorld of WarcraftPublic Test Realm. Though players have plenty of time to reach maximum level before some of them, it is good to know they can still unlock their mounts’ full potential in these races, even if they are missing a few glyphs.

World of Warcrafthas already confirmed the popular dynamic flying system is coming to the rest of the game soon. When it does, it is possible these old world Dragonriding events will return, or even become evergreen. Either way, fans shouldn’t be surprised if they hear something about Dragonriding at BlizzCon, along with theexpected announcement of the nextWorld of Warcraftexpansion.
