Summary
Grand Theft Autosounds like one of the least likely franchises for aFortnitecrossover, but the idea isn’t completely unfeasible. Granted, when one comparesFortniteandGrand Theft Auto, there is a miniscule amount of similarities aside from both games featuring guns. There are some advantages that could come from such a collaboration though. After all, it’s hard to deny the success thatFortnitehas had when it comes to working with other IPs in the past.Grand Theft Autocould provide the next in a long line of guest characters, and likely far from the last.
Whether they come fromFortnite’s ever-changing item shopor enter the game through events,Fortnitehas had an incredible amount of crossovers over the years. It seems that characters from almost every form of media have landed onFortnite’s island alongside the game’s list of original skins. Characters from both Marvel and DC have found their way into the game, making it arguably one of the biggest crossovers between the two companies. Even some real people like athletes and streamers have hadFortniteskins based on them. At this point, it seems like almost any character can be reinvented as aFortniteskin.

As Strange as it Sounds, GTA Could Have a Way Into Fortnite
Among the remainingvideo games that could cross over withFortnite, one of the biggest names still missing isGrand Theft Auto. WhileGrand Theft Autois a famous series, it’s not hard to make an argument for why it hasn’t shown up inFortniteyet. TheGTAseries is famed for being incredibly violent and raunchy, withGrand Theft Auto 5arguably being the series' best example of both. WhileFortniteis rated T, it does have a reputation for having a lot of young fans. As a result, it’s easy to see howGrand Theft Auto’s significantly more adult characters could feel out of place.
While the series has seen controversy, there’s no denying thatGrand Theft Auto’s sales are remarkable. The series has managed to come out with several bestselling titles, withGrand Theft Auto 5in particular being one of the highest-selling games of all time. Even beyond sales numbers, the games have found a place in pop culture. The best example of this may beGrand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which spawned several memes that still enjoy popularity in modern times.Grand Theft Autois one of the biggest IPs in the world of gaming, and it does admittedly have potential for aFortnitecrossover.
There may already be precedent that could ease the path to aGrand Theft Autocrossover.Rick and Mortyhas multipleFortnitecrossover skins, and it’s a shamelessly crass adult animated series. It isn’t the only property designed for mature audiences that has made it intoFortnite, either. Ash fromEvil Deadmade it into the game last year, and the latest Fortnitemares brought slasher icon Michael Myers into the game. Admittedly, these characters are toned-down versions of themselves and their source material. With this track record, some ofGrand Theft Auto’s more memorable characters like Franklin and CJ could have a path intoFortnite.
There’s no telling whetherGrand Theft Autowill have aFortnitecrossover in the works, but the idea isn’t impossible. AfterFortnitemares 2023’s surprising new crossover skins, it could be more likely than ever before. It seems that no matter where a character comes from,Fortnitehas managed to make them fit in with the rest of the available skins. That means that there’s a good chance that it could provide a lighter take on someGrand Theft Autoicons. It may not be the first IP that comes to mind, butGrand Theft Autocould certainly lend some of its characters toFortnite.
Fortniteis available now for Mobile, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
