Throughout the world ofRed Dead Redemption 2, players will meet all kinds of interesting characters, each in their own peculiar situations. One of the most interesting side quests players can choose to do is “The Noblest of Men, And A Woman,” in which a series of famous gunslingers must be tracked down. Many of the gunslingers also appear as icons in the Famous Gunslingers cigarette card collection.
To begin the quest, players will need to reach Chapter 2 in the main story, after which a random encounter in Keane’s Saloon (the smaller of Valentine’s two saloons) will introduce Jim “Boy” Calloway and his biographer, Theodore Levin. As Calloway passes out in a drunken stupor, Levin explains that he is a legendary gunslinger and that, in order to compile a complete account of his history, he will need further testimonies from a number ofother legendary gunfighters. Levin then provides Arthur with a series of photographs, along with a camera, so that he can document his meeting with said gunslingers. In order to gain map markers for each individual, players will need toview their photographs from thesatchel.

The first target on the list is Black Belle, the sole survivor of the Colter Tobin gang and a highly valuable outlaw. Said to have been married six times but never divorced, Belle’s reputation certainly precedes her, andshe more than lives up to itwhen players eventually meet her. To find Black Belle, head toBluewater Marshto theNorth of Saint Denis. Black Belle can be found in a small cabin in the swamps here, and a cutscene will trigger when Arthur gets close enough to engage with her.
During the cutscene, the pair come under attack from a number of Pinkertons, though Belle seemingly delights atthe prospect of violence. Together, the player must fend off the Pinkertons with Belle, eventually leading her to agree to have her photo taken. Out of all the encounters, this is by far the most friendly, and Belle’s unique character is certainly a memorable one.

While no unique weapon can be acquired here as with the other gunslinger quests, players can gain a lot of loot from the bodies of the dead Pinkertons after the mission, each of whom is likely to carry an above average amount of cash and valuables.
Looking at Emmet Granger’s photo will reveal his location to be on a pig farm nearFlatneck Station, South of Valentine and the Heartlands. Uponarriving at the homestead, players will notice that Granger is not especially pleased at being tracked down. Granger states that he will only share his stories if Arthur helps to muck out his pig pen. This menial task is relatively straightforward, and players will simply have to scoop the dung piles onto a wheelbarrow before transporting it to a pile near the house.

When Granger mocks Arthur and becomes agitated over not being the center of the story, Arthur blows up the dung pile, causing it to shower down hog waste onto Granger and his home. In response, he challenges Arthur to a duel, and unfortunately, players will have to kill him. With Granger dead, players can then photograph his body to complete the mission. A bonus unique pistol,Granger’s Revolver, can also be obtained from his body.
Billy Midnight is perhaps the maddest of all the gunslingers andone of the saddestto have to deal with. After viewing his photo, players will see that his icon is located above the train station inRhodes. Heading here and speaking with the clerk, Alden, will reveal that Midnight is a drunk who frequents the bar carriages of the passing trains. Players can find him on the next train through town by heading to the rear carriages.

When Arthur explains that he knows who Midnight is, the paranoid gunslinger immediately flees, and players will have to chase him along the carriage roofs ofthe moving train. Eventually, Midnight will turn around and duel Arthur. Players can choose to either kill Midnight here or shoot the gun from his hand. However, the outcome will be the same since even if players attempt to save him, he will take his own life. With Midnight dead, players can acquireMidnight’s Pistol, a unique Mauser Pistol.
The fourth target on the list of famous gunslingers is Flaco Hernandez, leader of an outlaw gangresponsible for many raids on the nearby settlements that have earned him the nickname “Terror of the Grizzlies.” Flaco is perhaps the hardest to reach of all the gunslingers since his camp is located nearCairn Lakein the far North of the map. Upon arriving in Flaco’s camp, his gang will confront the player and eventually start a shootout.

Once the gang members have been wiped out, Flaco can be drawn out from his shack. He will engage Arthur in a duel, though he is perhaps the quickest draw of all the gunslingers and therefore the hardest to defeat. Once Flaco has been defeated, players can retrieveFlaco’s Revolverfrom his body, a unique Cattleman Revolver.
Once players have progressed into Chapter 6 of the game’s main story, an icon will appear in at Keane’s Saloon in Valentine with the initials of Jim “Boy” Calloway. Heading here and questioning the bartender will reveal that both Levin and Calloway are to be found on a riverboat in theSaint Denis harbor.

Having arrived in Saint Denis, players can head to the moored riverboat and ask the security guard about Calloway. This will lead to a cutscene in which the drunken Calloway will rave about his old rival, Slim Grant, and insist that his story will not be complete unless he is able to avenge his cousin by dealing with Grant.
To find Slim Grant, players will first have to head to the Sheriff’s Office in Annesburg, where the acting deputy expresses his amusement at Grant’s disappearance and says he was kidnapped by outlaws and taken toBeaver Hollow. Following the quest marker to Beaver Hollow, players will find Grant tied to a tree with several hostile outlaws around him.
Once the outlaws have been dealt with, players can take Slim Grant and deliver him to the Brandywine Drop waterfall. Here, Calloway and Levin are waiting, and a cutscene ensues in which Calloway shoots the forgiving Slim Grant in the back - a cowardly act he immediately regrets. In his inebriated madness, Calloway then challenges Arthur to a duel, which he is unable to survive, even if the gun is shot from his hand.
With Grant and Calloway now dead, Levin expresses his joy at now being free to chronicle the story in any way he wishes, rather than being tied to the truth of Calloway’s account. This willcomplete the mission, and after several days, players willreceive a reward in the mail, a total of$350.
