As players continue trying to get their hands on the PlayStation 5, Sony continues looking through its back-catalogue for games ripe for the remaster or remake treatment. Games likeDemon’s Soulsand theDeath Stranding Director’s Cuthighlight how developers are taking advantage of the PS5 to improve performance, whether it’s simply a 4K patch or a from the ground-up remake. However, one intrepid player is teasing what a remaster can look like for Ready at Dawn’s 2015 game,The Order: 1886.

The steampunk-inspired, PlayStation 4 exclusive was originally announced at E3 2013 amid a slew of next-gen games. Set in alternate historyVictorian London, the game followed the Knights of the Round Table in its battle to protect humanity from half-breed monsters like vampires and werewolves. Players take the role of Sir Galahad in this ongoing battle as he uncovers dark secrets hidden in both London’s underbelly and within the order, itself.

YouTuber SnazzyAI posted a video to show what a remaster ofThe Order: 1886would look like on PS5 by touching up one of its various trailers. The trailer is upscaled to 4K/60FPS to try and capture the feel of the game running on PS5, though SnazzyAI acknowledges the upscaling “is not perfect.”

While there are quality drops at some points, SnazzyAI’s upscale does a good job capturing what a remaster ofThe Order: 1886would look like. Gameplay is notably sharper for most of the trailer which is only heightened thanks to the cinematic approachReady at Dawntook with the game. It also speaks to SnazzyAI’s work given the aforementioned praise Ready at Dawn received for the game’s graphics.

As impressive as SnazzyAI’s effort is, though, a remaster orPlayStation 5 updateforThe Order: 1886seems unlikely at this point. The game was met with mixed reviews when it released in 2015, with most praise being heaped on the technical performance of the game and many outlets saying it was one of the most visually impressive PS4 games at the time. However, the game was heavily criticized for the relatively short length of the game, repetative gameplay, and lack of replay value.

Criticism aside, the game’s universe is one seemingly ripe for exploration if Sony wished to revisit it. Ready at Dawn’s take on classic horror monsters intermixed with the Arthurian legend remains one of the more unique worlds in gaming where a new time period could give it a fresh twist. If Sony wanted to test the waters to see if interest is there, a remaster or PS5 update is an easy way to guage interest.

The Order: 1886is out now as a PS4 exclusive.
