The release ofMass Effect: Legendary Editionhas breathed new life into an already beloved video game franchise and with it comes a resurgence of amazing fan art. One creative fan has decided to take an interesting direction with their fan art, mashing upMass EffectwithJames Bond, seeing an opportunity with the title of a recent007film.

Mass Effectis a third-person shooter RPG seriesdeveloped by BioWarewhere the player character can be a male or female version of Commander Shepard. It takes place in the distant future where humanity has allied with alien races and colonized the Milky Way galaxy with the help of technology left behind by an ancient alien civilization. The007films are a classic franchise based originally on the works of author Ian Fleming that follows the missions of an intelligence agent working for MI6 called James Bond.

Reddit user Finn_Flame shared some fan art where the artist, CrystalGrazianoArt, played with the idea ofMass Effect’s female Shepardas 007. The art is a reimagining of the movie poster for the 2015 filmSpectrewith a blonde-haired female Shepard standing in the place of James Bond. She’s wearing a black outfit with a watch and a gun holster, similar to the original version of the poster, but it has the signature N7 red and white stripes on one sleeve. She’s holding a pistol as the title is placed before her, with the N7 logo sporting a gun on the “7” like the signature007logo, along with a fictional release date of November 6.

Frombuilding the Normandy out of LEGOs, to art like this, the fans of theMass Effectfranchise are a seriously creative bunch. This art, in particular, is especially clever in using the status of Shepard as a human Spectre in reference to a007film of the same name and using the same logo script.

In theMass Effectseries, “spectre” is a shortened form of Special Tactics and Reconnaissance where agents that carry this rank have extraordinary authority given to them by the Citadel Council.Commander Shepardwas the first human to gain this title in the history of the galaxy. This concept gives the players the means to play the role of Shepard with more freedom in the game’s world.

With a brandnewMass Effectgameon the horizon, with a newDragon Agealso in the works, BioWare has some chance to redeem itself after the failure ofAnthemby going back to reinvent its most popular franchises. Until more is released about these two games, fans can rest assured that fan art and other creations will be around to keep the love alive for this iconic sci-fi franchise.
