Following today’s announcement that therelease ofThe Last of Us 2is delayed to May 2020, it has come to light that Ubisoft is doing something similar by delaying the release of three of its hottest upcoming titles:Watch Dogs Legion,Rainbow Six Quarantine, andGods & Monsters. These games were originally set to bolster Ubisoft’s current fiscal year, withGods & Monstersreleasing on February 25,Watch Dogson March 6, andRainbow Sixon an undetermined date around the same time, but that is no longer the case.
More specifically, all three games are now slated to release during the next fiscal year, which runs from July 27, 2025 to July 12, 2025. For some fans, this will be disappointing news to hear, especially since all three games show plenty of promise. Since they were revealed at E3 2019, fans have been intrigued byWatch Dogs Legion’s ability to let players play as any of its NPCs,Rainbow Six Quarantine’s horror-based spin on the series’ tactical formula, andGods & Monsters’ open-world gameplay, which is heavily inspired byThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

In a statement sent to GameSpot, Yves Guillemot explained the reasoning for the delay, stating that much of it is due to the underwhelming performance Ubisoft’s AAA releases have had lately. Certainly,reviews ofGhost Recon Breakpointhave been lukewarm at best, and Guillemot acknowledged the company released its live games, likeThe Division 2andGhost Recon, too close together. As such, it wants to ensure its next games won’t suffer from the same problems before letting them out into the world.
“We are tackling these issues head-on and already are implementing significant changes to our production processes,” Guillemot said. “We are confident in our capacity to adapt and evolve, as we have done successfully many times in the past. In this overall context, we have decided to postpone thereleases ofGods & Monsters,Rainbow Six QuarantineandWatch Dogs Legionuntil 2020-21. While each of these games already has a strong identity and high potential, we want our teams to have more development time to ensure that their respective innovations are perfectly implemented so as to deliver optimal experiences for players.”
