The Sims 4has taken life simulation to another level. Just like in real life, each has their own unique wants and fears. The latest update introduces the concept of personalized Wants and Fears for Sims. This game-changing feature has replaced Whims and allows the Sims’ lives to be influenced in real-time by the actions and consequences of the world around them.

From being scared of fire all the wayto worrying about death, these phobias negatively affect the Sim’s moodlets and make it hard for them to perform certain activities. Even though fears seem like a dreadful burden – they can indeed be conquered inThe Sims 4.

Fear of Fire

Witnessing a fire break out in front of their eyes or getting caught on fire can traumatize Sims for life. Fires usually occur when a Sim is cooking on low energy, or if objects are placed too close to lit fireplaces. The Fear of Fire can only be overcome if the Sim confronts a fire and extinguishes it all by himself.

Fear of Swimming

A scary incident while swimming, such as swimming on low energy and drowning, may trigger a fear of swimming in Sims. To get rid of this fear, send the Sim togo swimming while they are feeling confident.

Fear of Being Judged

No one likes being judged! If another Sim uses a Mean interaction with a certain Sim, it can bring out the fear of being judged. Let the fearful Sim directly approach the Sim who was unkind to them and use the unique interaction of “Work Out Differences”. This would enable them to overcome their fear.

Fear of Being Cheated On

A Sim in a relationshipcan have the fear of being cheated on by their partner. A bad WooHoo session or not interacting regularly with their loved one can trigger this fear.

Put the Sim’s mind at ease by using the interaction “Talk about Relationship Fears” when they are with their partner. This option can be found under “Romantic socials”.

Fear of Crowded Places

A crowded community lot, parties, social events, festivals – any place that isn’t quiet may overwhelm a Sim and trigger a fear of crowded places. Letting the Sim initiate “Funny socials”, such as telling jokes or amusing stories to other Sims can help them get over this fear.

Fear of Failure

Nobody wants to fail – neither do Sims. The Fear of Failure can be triggered by poor performance in the Sim’s career, which puts them at risk of being demoted or fired. Besides this, cooking unimpressive meals, and creating low-quality paintings or woodwork can also trigger this fear.

To get over this fear, the Sim should create something of exceptional quality and either use the “Show Off Work” interaction or “Ask for Performance Review” at their workplace.

To overcome this, ensure the Sim attends their classes and works hard while being in a Confident mood.

If acareer-oriented Sim hasn’t received any promotionsin a while, they start to question if their current job is the right one. Sims with this fear have a special interaction “Regain Passion” that enables them to be Confident for a full work day. Reassure the Sim’s mind by using this interaction before they head off to work. This will help them get over their fear and be passionate about their career again.

Not completing a Sims Wants, and neglecting them for a long period of time results in the Sim developing a Fear of Unfulfilled dreams. Overcome this fear by successfully completing any Want. Then, let the Sim talk to another Sim about this using interaction “Discuss Fears”.

Fear of Ghosts

Negative interactions with ghosts can make Sims fearful of them. In the presence of any ghost, use Mean interactions and choose to “Fight” the ghost to overcome this fear.

Fear of Cowplant

Fear of Death

When a Sim becomes an Elder, they naturally fear dying. Other Sims can have this fear if they witness a loved one pass away, whether in an accident or by old age. Conquering the fear of death involves either talking to a companion about the “Fear of Death” or giving a “Death Flower” to the Grim Reaper.

Most Fears are easy to overcomewhilst a Sim is feeling Confident. Strive to get rid of a Sim’s Fears, as they can become hard to live with.
