Mobile game developer Gameloft has announced that its mobile gameThe Oregon Trailis going to be releasing on Nintendo Switch and PC at the end of November.TheOregon Trailhad already been released byGamelofton Apple Arcade in 2021, but this is the first time the game is coming to a non-Apple audience.

The Oregon Trailwas originally createdby a middle school teacher named Don Rawitsch for use in his classroom in 1971, but quickly grew beyond that when he was hired by a company that made educational software. Through that company, the game quickly spread to schools across the United States and became something of a cultural phenomenon, spawning parody games and plenty of memes. In 2009, Gameloft made its firstThe Oregon Trailmobile game, which quickly lead to sequels in the following years.

In 2021, Gameloft released the newestThe Oregon Trailgame for Apple Arcade, and since then it has only been available on mobile devices. However, the official Gameloft Twitter account recently announced thatThe Oregon Trailwill be coming out on Nintendo Switch and PC at the end of November. Gameloft already has a popular Nintendo Switch release under its belt withDisney Dreamlight Valley. This is great news for people that prefer gaming on non-mobile platforms or for those who don’t own Apple products, as it will bring this nostalgia-filled game to a much wider audience.
