The Lord of the Rings: Gollumis one of themany upcomingThe Lord of the Ringsgamesto be released in 2023 and 2024. This third-person action-adventure title will be released in May after several delays, and it’s been at the center of many controversies in the last few months. Now, Daedalic Entertainment has explained the controversy surrounding its Precious Edition bundle DLC. According to the game developer’s statement to Push Square, people who only own the base game will still be able to hear Elves speaking in Sindarin “when necessary.” This means that most critical conversations with Elves will be included in the normal version of the game. However, when Gollumis traversing Middle-earth, he may listen to the dialogue between secondary Elven characters, which will be only offered via the DLC.
According to the company’s official statement, Daedelic “went the extra mile” to hire voice actors to perform these conversations, which will add to the game’s lore and immersion, which is why it costs more to access them. However,Gollumis not the only game offering somewhat suspicious DLC right now. Recently, theResident Evil 4remake sneaked in pay-to-win DLC, too. After its release, gamers got the chance to buy special weapon upgrade tickets that would allow them to use overpowered weapons, which also generated criticism towards Capcom’s remake.
The DLC and the constant delays are not the only controversies surroundingGollum’s game, though. It seems thatThe Lord of the Rings: Gollumwill have hefty requirements, too, which led to fear that it may not be well optimized for PC. The recently released PC requirements for the game include at least 16 GB of RAM and a GTX 1080 or RTX 2060 graphics card to run it on Medium on 1080p. These controversies may have been causing some skepticism among fans, but it’s still too early to tell, and gamers should wait to see how the game will turn out.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollumwill release on May 25 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
