Matt Reeves is probably best known to general audiences as the director currently working on the latest iteration of Batman for DC.His film,The Batman, will star Robert Pattinson, has gone through quite a few stumbles during production, having to film during the Coronavirus pandemic.

The film won’t be seen until 2022, but it looks to be a much more grounded take on the Caped Crusader, showing him off in the early years of his long career of dressing up as a bat and punching people. It seems Reeves has his own side projects as well though, with recent reporting suggesting that he will be producing a new horror film titledSwitchboard.

The film is being made withParanormal ActivityProducer Steven Schneider, but the film itself has no official studio yet. Supposedly, the story will be about a switchboard operator in the 1940’s who finds herself in danger when a serial killer calls in and connects with her line. As their conversation continues, she begins to doubt her security, her sanity, and the world around her. It’s an interesting premise for a horror film, and it’s nice to know that some experienced hands will be working to help it become a reality.

Schneider has worked on projects likeInsidious,Blair Witch, and thePet Semetaryremake. Overall, a pretty impressive list of credits for a horror producer. Reeves has been involved with the vampire movieLet Me In, and found footage filmCloverfield. He’s more recently been working for some very big films, includingThe Batmanand twoPlanet of the Apesmovies. The story forSwitchboardis written by Devon Graye, who has sold quite a few screenplays recently, including the screenplays forAllison AdamsandI See You. While not as established as Reeves or Schneider, he also seems to be producing quality work at a consistent rate.

At the time of writing, there is no real news about whenSwitchboardwill begin production or when it is expected to release. There is still a lot to be done for the project, and presumably, work will pick up more when Reeves iscompletely done withThe Batman.
