Who is Tekken 8’s Reina?

The trailer kicks off with a shot of a familiarTekkenstage, the Mishima family dojo, surrounded by statues of various demons. It then shows Reina rising from her throne and proceeding to fight every single fighter that has been previously revealed. She has attacks imbued with purple lightning, which is not only a nod to her title but also her heritage, as she is the illegitimate child of thelongtime villainousTekkenfamily patriarch, Heihachi Mishima. She even gets special round intro interactions with two other members of the Mishima bloodline, Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama.

WithHeihachi Mishima definitively dead inTekken 8, Reina is filling in the space left behind by theTekkenfamily patriarch. This is best showcased in the second half of Reina’s trailer, where she not only has the same lightning powers as Heihachi, but also the same moves. This includes his trademark headbutt, stomp, palm thrust, and even the infamous Electric Wind God Fist uppercut. Her Rage Art finisher completes the connection by having her encompassed in darkness after punching her opponent, where the shadows form a silhouette that is very similar to Heihachi, complete with his devil horn hair.

All Confirmed Tekken 8 Characters

Since Reina is another illegitimate child of Heihachi, she would be Kazuya Mishima’s sister and, by proxy, the aunt of Jin Kazama. Despite the existence of her character having been leaked months before her reveal, many were excited about how she looks, along with how her gameplay is the successor of her late father, Heihachi. Many are very excited to see what Reina brings to the table onceTekken 8releases next February.
