WhileStreet FighterandTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesboth started in 1987, they’ve taken different paths until a new comic book series that is bringing the two together in an incredible crossover. Though theTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtleshave appeared multiple times in the fighting genre that the Capcom series broke ground in, the characters have never been in aStreet Fightergame, but this comic will smash the universes together.

No strangers to dabbling with popular intellectual property, IDW Publishing recently confirmed that a new series will cross over the universes ofStreet FighterandTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Ninja Turtles have been prominent brawlers in games of the past, with the four of them featured inDC fighting gameInjustice 2, and a fighting game inspired by the 1980s cartoon made for the Super Nintendo. WhileTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighterssaw success on the SNES, so did multipleStreet Fightertitles, which caused many fans to wonder if the two would ever cross over, which is finally coming to fruition.

According to IDW, theStreet FighterandTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtlecomicwill be a five-issue miniseries, and it kicks off in May. The miniseries will be illustrated by Ariel Medel, colored in by Sarah Myer, and penned by Paul Allor, and it begins with the four turtlesand new addition Jennika attending a martial arts tournament in Atlantic City. Allor is known for his work on other successful comic series' likeSamurai Jack: Lost Worlds,Deviations, andGodzilla Rivals, while Medel made art forThe UnbeatablesandSpider-Squirrel, and Myer has colored multiple IDW projects in her time there.

IDW has teased a fight betweenStreet Fighter’s GuileandTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Raphael, but none of the remaining Atlantic City bouts have been revealed. Although theNinja Turtlesare normally based out of New York City, theStreet Fightercrew is from around the world and doesn’t feel out of place at an Atlantic City tournament. TheStreet Fightercharacters confirmed for the miniseries include Chun-Li, Ken, Ryu, and the aforementioned military man, while the new turtle Jennika will be part of theTMNTroster.

While theTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtleshave crossed overwith things likeArchieandPower Rangers, IDW has also handled popular franchises and created its own interesting collaborative projects. IDW has brought togetherRick and MortywithDungeons and Dragonsand has made comic series' based on intellectual property likeMy Little Pony,Transformers,G.I. Joe,Star Trek, and more.
