OneLegend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomplayer discovers a new traversal method using a glitch that lets them shield surf through the air indefinitely. Ditching the previous Sheikah Slate abilities,Tears of the Kingdomgives players more creative freedom through new powers like Ultrahandand Fuse. These abilities have been a big hit with players who continue to create unique solutions to overcoming challenges as well as show off some impressive vehicle creations. Weapon durability has continued to be a point of contention among players, as items can break the more they’re used. While it doesn’t completely fix the issue,Zeldaplayers can use Fuse to combine two items together, such as a sword and a rock to make a hammer. The weapon typically gains added attack power while also inheriting new properties as well. However, one creative player has found an alternative purpose with Fuse, utilizing it to get around Hyrule in a new way.RELATED:Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Fishing Trick Is Super EfficientThe glitch in question comes from SmallAnt, who posted a short clip on Twitter showing off the new technique. Afterequipping the unique Hylian Shieldand fusing a Zonai rocket to Link’s currently equipped weapon, SmallAnt runs forward and jumps to start a traditional shield surf. However, using a glitch entanglement, the fused weapon rocket triggers during the animation, canceling the shield surf but adding height to the jump. This process does use a sliver of battery energy, but can be continually used to propel Link forward.
SmallAnt went on to call the move the “pocket rocket” and confirmed that it works on every version ofTears of the Kingdom. As such, it appears that the glitch was originally inside of the launch version and to this point, Nintendo either hasn’t been made aware of the glitch’s existence or has yet to deal with the issue in an upcoming patch. For now, fans can continue to sky surf, though be aware that it could suddenly vanish with a future update.
That potential future shouldn’t be too surprising as even thoughZeldais a single player, offline experience, Nintendo has been quick to deal with glitches and exploits it feels are harmful to the developer’s original vision. Case and point are theduplication glitches people were using in earlier versions ofTears of the Kingdom. While holding an object in the air, players could easily press two buttons at the same time to spawn more of that object in, which Nintendo promptly removed in an update. While additional duplication glitches still exist, they’re not nearly as easy to pull off anymore.
