Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have broken up after six years of dating, and because the two have always valued their privacy, this reportedly happened a few weeks ago. The public obviously didn’t know, but it does reportedly seem to have been amicable.
Of course, this is taking place whileTaylor Swift is currently on her Eras Tour. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Swift was not able to tour for herLover, Folklore, Evermore, orMidnightsalbums, so this tour celebrates them all. It has also been described as a “journey through all of [Swift’s] musical eras.” The U.S. portion of the tour began in March in Arizona and is expected to end on August 9 in California. As of this writing, her next stop is Tampa, Florida.

ET Online reportedly spoke to sources familiar withTaylor Swift’s relationship status, adding that the breakup itself was not dramatic. The reason for Swift and Alywyn’s relationship supposedly comes down to it having run its course, and it’s why Alwyn hasn’t made any appearances during the Eras Tour. They started dating in late 2016, and according to ET Online, they were “doing great” as recently as October 2022. However, again, Swift and Alwyn have always enjoyed their privacy, with Alwyn understanding that people want to know about that side of their life but understandably refusing to budge, and a lot can change in a handful of months.
Not only has her relationship withStars at Noonactor Alwynbeen an inspiration for several of Swift’s most recent songs, but he has also contributed to a few songs under the pseudonym William Bowery. Swift’s “Lavender Haze,” “Gorgeous,” and others are about him, while he worked on Exile," “Betty,” “Champagne Problems,” “Coney Island,” and “Evermore.” He won a Grammy in 2021 for his contribution to these songs.
It should be noted that, several times throughout her career,Swift has written songs about ex-boyfriends. “All Too Well,““We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “Back to December,” “Forever and Always,” and many, many others depict her breakups and relationships with various exes. It is uncertain whether Swift will write a new song about Alwyn, given he has inspired several other songs, but if he does, fans shouldn’t expect it to be as dramatic, pointed, or as critical as some of these past songs, if the reports of the breakup being amicable are true.
