Ever since Nintendo announced that it would be introducing new amiibos with the release ofSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, players have been dying to get their hands on the figures. With some amiibo, like theMii Fighter 3-Pack, selling for $250, it’s no secret that these collectibles are a hot commodity. Now it seems that players won’t have to wait too long before they can add Joker fromPersona 5to their collection.
Rather than most collectible figures on the market, amiibos are figures that can directly interact with Nintendo’s various games. By touching the base of the amiibo to a sensor located in the player’s controller, this will unlock various in-game items. In the case ofSuper Smash Bros., theamiibos act as fighters in-gameand work to get stronger as they compete against other combatants.

Now it looks like players will soon be able to add Joker fromPersona 5to their collection very soon. Near the end of the reveal forSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate’s new fighter,Min Min, Sakurai detailed that the amiibo for Joker would be coming this fall. Considering that he was the first fighter added post-launch, it makes sense that he would be the first to receive an amiibo iteration.
In addition, Sakurai announced that an amiibo forDragon Quest 11’s Hero, also known as The Luminary, would be receiving his own amiibo this fall as well. Although it doesn’t seem that Nintendo has any plans to make amiibos of the otherDragon Questprotagoniststhat are playable in-game, Sakurai did confirm that amiibos are currently in development for all of the DLC characters.
Considering players have become concerned as to whether Nintendo wascontinuing production on amiibosor not, this news is wonderful to hear. Player reactions from across Twitter are overwhelmingly positive for both figures, with many wanting to pre-order immediately.
Some collectors are even starting to speculate when they could possibly see amiibos for the other DLC fighters as well. Fans have also begun to wonder ifByleth, the protagonist fromFire Emblem: Three Houses, will have a male and female version similarly to how Corrin does. It seems like players will have to just have to be patient until Nintendo reveals all.
