Although some bosses inStranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Originmay come as a surprise, players have a pretty good idea that they’ll be battling against the iconic four fiends from the start. As the game progressesJack and his crew must level upand eventually prove themselves against all four of the fiends to attempt to restore the light. The first main obstacle in that path will be Tiamat.

Players should have plenty of early and mid-game combat experience from defeating Bikke, the fused Elemental, and all of the other bosses that precede Tiamat, but this fight is the most difficult challenge yet once it arrives. Tiamat is an incredibly powerful foe, but he’s not invincible. The boss has weaknesses and a pattern just like all of the enemies inStranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, which means that players who take the time to prepare and practice should be able to make it through to the other side.

Just like every other boss after the game’s tutorial levels, Tiamat has two phases. As an overall strategy, players will probably want to pair a magic Job with a melee Job that gives them some extra mobility or buffs. Surviving this fight will require a combination of carefully placed offensives and a whole lot of dodging. Players who have unlocked some Advanced Classes should pick a pairing that aligns with their playstyles, but try to prioritize at least one Job that allows for use of blizzard magic - a major weakness of Tiamat’s.

Tiamat Phase 2 Guide

This can be a pretty frustrating fight thanks to the regen ability during phase two, so the main thing is to remain patient. Players need to really master their responses to each of the different incoming attacks and chip away at the Break Gauge with special abilities andhelp from Resonance. Players who feel truly gridlocked might need to consider entering some previous missions to level up their Jobs or find some better weapons and gear.
