Leader of the Pack rounds up the short quest chain that started in front of Akila City’s barracks, and it’ll haveStarfieldplayers finding out that the local Ashta problem is actually much more serious than what they first thought. This finale isn’t necessarily grand, but players will want to see it through to the end.

This optionalStarfieldquest is the shortest one in its chain. There’s a lot less walking and talking involved, and the reward at the end can prove to be a major upgrade for aspiring snipers. Here’s the rundown.
Starfield: Leader of the Pack Quest Guide
Once the Defensive Measuresand False Positives missions are done, players will have to wait another full day in Akila before they can start Leader of the Pack. Find a chair or a bed, rest for 24 local hours, and then speak with Keoni near The Rock. She’ll say that someone in Akila Security has been taking on more patrols than usual, and she’s got a strong feeling that it’s Davis Wilson.
For the sake of her own peace of mind, Keoni will ask players to talk to Davis, who will be standing by the gate to the desert. He’ll confirm that he is the one doing all the patrols, but he’ll also brush off any attempt at getting him to take a break. Davis will explain that he’s been seeing some tracks outside the city that are much more concerning than just those of regular Ashta.

Players will then be asked to help Davis take one more patrol out of the city. Just like the outing beforehand, this happens right outside the walls after a short hike from the gate. Along the way, Davis recounts one instance where someone claimed to have been attacked by an enormous predator out in the desert. It won’t take long before this predator makes itself known.
The ground will rumble and an Alpha Ashta will appear. It’s much larger and meaner than its smaller counterparts, and it’ll charge immediately after it emerges from the ground. Get on top of a rock, use boost pack-assisted jumps, or just gun the animal down before it can deal any damage. As big as the thing is, it should be relatively harmless to a player above level 15, but make sure to keep an eye on Davis so he can live to see another day.
Once the Alpha Ashta is put down, head back to Keoni and tell her what happened. She will then give players theDespondent Assassin,a legendary Old Earth Hunting Rifle designed for stealthy sniping.
