Stardew Valley’s Pelican Town citizens offer up a variety of dialogue options, unique quests, and fun cutscenes, with Mayor Lewis being among the most frequently interacted with character. As mayor of Pelican Town, Lewis is the first character to greet the player inStardew Valleyand helps them to get their farm started. While progressing through the game, players have several opportunities to complete quests for Lewis. Among these is a quest involvingMayor Lewis' purple shorts. Players can choose to return the shorts to Lewis or can instead opt to play a prank on him. However, one player recently found a way to prank Lewis outside scripted quests and cutscenes.
Stardew Valleyplayer Emma_JM shared a look at the unique and hysterical prank they pulled on Mayor Lewis. While decorating the Pelican Town Community Center, they decided to place Lewis' notorious purple shorts on display for all to see. Mayor Lewis can be seen standing in front of the displayed shorts with a question mark popping up above his head. The player’s character is stood next to Lewis, staring at him, as if challenging him to call them out on the shenanigan.
Fans in the comments responded with collective laughter as well as surprise. Many noted that they were wholly unaware that theStardew ValleyCommunity Centercould be decorated, while others were shocked that the player held onto Lewis' shorts for so long. Several comments explained that objects can be placed anywhere inStardew Valley, so long as they are not blocking the coded pathing of any NPC characters. While some items can be placed on a path and walked through by NPCs, other items, such as chests and machines, will get destroyed. Emma_JM did clarify that the question mark above Lewis' head was likely due to the item being in his way, rather than him actually taking offense to the unexpected decor.
