It seems like any conversation regardingStar Warsthese days has a roughly 30% chance of speculating on which beloved character will be the next to appear in a Disney Plus show. Well, another instance has clawed its way to the ever-churning surface of fan discourse, and this one may have some legs.As the next bigStar Warsshow,Ahsokais already gearing up for plenty of big moments to keep those fan ears perked up. It’s already setting several milestones for the franchise with the first live-action appearance of severalStar Wars Rebelscharacters. Most notably, it will feature the first live-action canon appearance of beloved Legends villain Grand Admiral Thrawn,as played by Lars Mikkelsen(who also voiced him inRebels). But even among all those big moments, fans have taken note of the slight possibility that they’ll see one more familiar face.RELATED:Star Wars: Who Are The 501st Legion? The mobile gameStar Wars: Galaxy of Heroesrevealed a new character as part of its roster, and it’s none other than Captain Rex, one of the more notable Clone Troopers created from the DNA of the bounty hunter Jango Fett. But while Rex has appeared several times in the past via animation, he’s sporting a new look this time around. As posted on theDailyStar WarsGamesTwitter account, the announcement reveals Rex with the unmistakable face of New Zealand Māori actor Temuera Morrison, which could be significant.

Morrison played Jango Fett and all the Clones in live-action as part of theStar Warsprequel trilogy and eventually came back to play Jango’s son/unaltered Clone Boba Fett when the character returned inThe MandalorianandThe Book of Boba Fett. However, what’s worth mentioning here is that, in all his other appearances, Rex sported the much more stylized look that other Clones had in the various animated series. This time, it’s clear he’s meant to look like Morrison, but what does that mean for the character’s future?

Well, fans speculate that it could easily mean Disney is gearing up to introduce the character into one of the many live-actionStar Warsseries floating about, possibly even via a well-kept secret appearance inAhsoka. It would make sense and even goes along with a recent statement whereMorrison said he wanted to star as Captain Rex. It also wouldn’t be the first time Morrison appeared as an older Clone other than Boba, as he was briefly seen as an unfortunately abandoned war veteran in theObi-Wan Kenobiseries. All the cards seem to be in place here.

However, this is only a game announcement. Considering the more realistic art style ofGalaxy of Heroes, it makes sense that whoever is in charge would opt to use Morrison’s likeness to keep things consistent. Still,Star Warsis built on the idea that the flame of hope can ignite from the tiniest spark. So it can’t hurt to be a little optimistic here. After all,Rex and Ahsoka are old friends, and it would be a huge missed opportunity if they don’t get their long-awaited reunion.

Ahsokareleases its first 2 episodes on August 23rd on Disney Plus.
