A year out from the launch of thePlayStation 5and the console is still just as hard to get as it was then. Hopefully, though, this will be the week for many to secure their ownPS5, as Sony has announced another restock.
While some people have cast away the PS5 hunt, opting to wait until more widespread PS5 availability, others have not stopped trying since the beginning. Between bots snatching consoles right as they are listed and scalpers drastically inflating the secondhand price, PS5 consoles are near impossible to attain. It has become a game of luck, and unfortunately, that continues with this latest restock.

Wario64 on Twitter posted about receiving aninvite to the latest PS5 restockoccurring on June 23. Like previous PlayStation Direct queues, by clicking on the URL in the email at the designated time, fans will be entered into a line where hopefully they will be able to purchase a console. The private queue for those who received an invitation will begin at 12:00 PM PT, which will likely be followed, according to Wario64, by a public queue at 2 PM PT.
Curiously, as Wario64 indicates, despite already having a PS5, he received the restock invitation. That said, is unknown just how people are being selected for this invitation. Fans who already have PS5s are receiving invitations to the restock, while those who are still without the console are not. Last year,Sony allowed fans to register for PS5 pre-orders, so perhaps Sony is still drawing from that pool of registrants.
As thePS5 shortage looks to continue to 2022, PS5 owners have likely been trying to secure consoles for their peers. Although this seems like a golden opportunity to pass along a secure link, doing so may actually cost them a chance at the console. Sony writes in the email, “This URL is unique to you and not meant to be shared with anyone else.” It is currently unclear what specifically will happen if the link is shared, but from the email’s language, it would probably be better not to share it.
While it is unfortunate that there are still many people who will still be unable to even attempt securing a PS5 this week, there are also many people who’s hunt will finally be ending. Hopefully as the second half of the year continues, Sony will offer morePS5restocks and more people may finally enjoy the greatness that awaits.
