During Gamescom Opening Night Live 2022, fans were treated to a newstory trailer forSonic Frontiersthat provided a better look at the open-zone world and the potential villain of the adventure. While many fans seemed to like what they saw, this was not the only news regarding the Blue Blur to come out of Gamescom 2022. In addition, more information about the Cyber Space stages, which are short levels designed around Sonic’s memories, was given.

Specifically, this new look at the Cyber Space stages coming inSonic Frontierswas provided as part of a demo on the show floor at Gamescom, allowing fans of the series to test the gameplay out for themselves. This new footage was shared by Sonic Stadium and gave fans a look at one of the classic stages from the series,Green Hill Zone, which had been reimagined as a Cyber Space stage forSonic Frontiers. In the one-minute and 24-second clip, Sonic navigated through a zone that looked aesthetically very similar to previous Green Hill Zones seen in the series while performing a number of different moves, such as a slide. It is worth mentioning that this level appears to be one of the first Cyber Space stages, as it contains tutorials that instruct players on how to move as Sonic.
Unsurprisingly, this newSonic Frontiersclip captured at Gamescom by Sonic Stadium has created quite a buzz amongSonic the Hedgehogfans. While some fans expressed excitement for these new levels, some claimed they seemed too similar to what had already been seen in past games. However, some gamers pointed out these Cyber Space stages are supposed to reflect the memories of Sonic, meaning that it would make sense for him to relive some of his most iconic gaming moments in bite-size pieces. In addition, one gamer, known as Mikester on Twitter, pointed out that the short level of Green Hill Zone seemed to play more similarly to Windmill Isle Act 1 fromSonic Unleashed.

Fortunately, the release date for the game was unveiled duringGamescom Opening Night Live 2022, meaning fans now know when they will be able to play as the Blue Blur for themselves.
