ThoughNintendo Switch Onlineboasts a quality amount of titles, it is still a drop in the bucket compared to the sheer amount of games on both of Nintendo’s consoles. Fans are eager for more content that comes along with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, as games are added periodically throughout the year. This can be frustrating to fans of Nintendo, as there are still many possible games that fans are eager to see a return. This is because many titles from the NES and SNES era are difficult for fans to obtain, so the Nintendo Switch Online catalog is the next best possibility.

RPGs That Should Return on the SNES Collection

The Super Nintendo was a wonderful console for experimenting on new genres and expanding old ones. One of the oldest genres in gaming is the RPG, and theSNES has many highly regarded RPGsthat would make the Nintendo Switch Online subscription sweeter. However, some RPG titles on the SNES won’t be difficult to get as they are re-released frequently, such asFinal Fantasy Pixel Remaster. There are still plenty more RPGs that could be added to the SNES library making it more desirable for fans of the genre, including:

These are among some of the most classic RPGs on the Super Nintendo system, not countingFinal Fantasyas despite originating on the Nintendo consoles, their remasters will not likely be coming to the Switch in the near future. The SNES collection does haveBreath of Fire1and2,hopefully in the next few updates to theSNES collection fans of the genre can seeEarthboundorSuper Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

Fighting Games That Should Return on the SNES Collection

The fighting genre on theSNES includes games likeStreet Fighter,or the less-currently popular Beat’em Up genre. Whichever camp fans might fall into, it’s no secret there were plenty of these type of games back in the day. As such, there is a massive missed opportunity if at least some of these don’t see a return, if not at least to utilize the online multiplayer feature of the SNES collection.

Even though theDragon Ball Zgames are almost exclusively in Japanese, that hasn’t stopped Nintendo from releasing Japanese-only games into the collection. As they are fighters, they don’t necessarily need a translation, thoughDragon Ball Z Super Butouden 1and2both have text-driven story modes. It would be a shame if players couldn’t get some of the more iconic Fighting or Beat’em Up games, as being able to play them online with a friend would really add a lot more value.

Puzzle Games That Should Return on the SNES Collection

Thepuzzle genre is in no short supply on any video game console, and that includes both the NES and SNES. Though many well-received puzzle games for the SNES were released in Japan exclusively, nothing seems to be off-limits when it comes to adding to the SNES library.

Mario’s Super Picrossis already part of the SNES collection, meaning there is probably an audience for the game, andPicrossis enjoyed by many.Mario and WarioandThe Lost Vikings 1and2are puzzle platformers that players don’t see much of nowadays, making the Nintendo Switch Online perfect for people to re-experience these gems.

Strategy Games That Should Return on the SNES Collection

Strategy games were not uncommon in the SNES days, probably because people have loved strategy games since well before video games came into existence. Still, theSNES had a huge lineup of strategy gamesand many of them are considered classics to this day. Though many of these games were only released in Japan, it should still go without saying that bringing a couple of these to the growing library will add more value.

Sports Games That Should Return on the SNES Collection

Even back in the 16-bit era, sports games were plentiful. As a result, there were many enjoyable sports games on the SNES, and this is proven as Nintendo has already brought to the library the likes ofSuper Tennis,Super Soccer, andSuper Baseball Simulator 1,000. Though theSNES library even includes two Tennis games,it is sorely missing other kinds of sports which, like fighting games, would benefit from the online capability of Nintendo’s subscription service.

Aside from the games mentioned, there are some more noteworthy additions that wouldadd more quality to the SNES library, and therefore the Nintendo Switch Online service. These include simulation games such asHarvest MoonandSimcity 2000,the racing trilogyTop Gear 14-06-2025,horror adventureClock Tower, and free-time destroyerMario Paint. Though, many of the games listed here will be more difficult than others for Nintendo to acquire the rights to distribute among the SNES library. Hopefully, as Nintendo begins to slow down how many games are released for the SNES library, fans will see new libraries added to the subscription service for consoles like the Game Boy, Nintendo 64, GameCube, and more.
