It’s hard to imagine a time when people will stop playing or talking aboutThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. It may be more than ten years old at this point, lasting longer than many other titles, but it’sSkyrimis a game with near-infinite replayability, and a vast lore that fans can get lost in for hours. It’s hardly surprising, therefore, that it’s an epic installment in the series that inspires real life artwork, and this one fan has dedicated their craft to creating one very notable aspect of the open world.
Uploading a couple of pictures to theSkyrimSubreddit recently, user alqin2s_art has shown their painterly skills by creating the game’s Guardian Stones that players usually encounter between the opening moments and the journey to Riverwood. The artwork is a beautiful image with the first painting depicting the stones bathed in sunlight, as the mountain, possibly the Throat of the World which is the highest point in the game, looms faded in the background.

Unsurprisingly, the thread is filled with words of praises from other users, with one person paying particular attention to the brilliant use of light and shadow, and one other commenter referring to the artist as “Bob Ross reincarnated.“Skyrimhas many Guardian Stones throughout Tamriel, but the ones alqin2s_art has painted are the most well-known, especially given that they are the first ones that most will come across after exiting Helgen and the tutorial dungeon. The three stones in this instance consist of the Warrior Stone, Mage Stone, and Thief Stone. The player chooses one, and it bestows certain effects upon them early on in the game.

TheGuardian Stones are part ofSkyrim’s beautiful scenery, looking out over the river. Given the location, as well as the instantly recognizable quality of the area for many fans, it’s hardly surprising that the artist felt compelled to paint them. The game is seemingly not short of ways to inspire people to showcase their own creativity.
Of course, despite how beautiful and inspiring the game is, many are still holding out for details onthe whereabouts ofThe Elder Scrolls 6. Fans are champing at the bit to hear what’s in store for the follow-up. Given thatSkyrimcame out towards the latter parts of 2011, it seems that the fan base is eagerly ready for the next game. But with Bethesda currently working on its sci-fi epicStarfield, which is due out November 2022, it could be some time before any news about a newElder Scrollscomes to the fore. But at least the current games can still inspire some great artwork.
