Despite being over a decade old,The Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrimstill manages to catch the attention of new players and keep old fans coming back for one more playthrough. As an open-world RPG that allows players to build anything from a greataxe wielding Nord decked out in heavy armor to the stealth build that manySkyrimplayers will often resort to even after deciding on a Magicka run. With plenty of armor, weapons, and other equipment to choose from,Skyrimplayers can make almost anything work.

That being said, there are certainly some pieces of equipment that are better than others. The Rueful Axe, which can be gained by killing the dog Barbas inthe Clavicus Vile quest, is one weapon that players have outlined as the slowest weaponSkyrimhas to offer. Considering it is a Daedric weapon, one of many that can be found inSkyrim, players may consider the axe a useful heavy weapon. One player has sought to disprove that with a clip showing off how useless the axe can be.

Posted by u/Calamari_Tsunami on Reddit, a video shows a Dragonborn outside Markarth swinging the Rueful Axe in what appears to be slow motion at first. The axe goes back and forth a few times in the 16-second clip, making the Dragonborn look about as useless as a town guard in combat. While the Rueful Axe is slow, it is not the only reason theSkyrimplayer is swinging as slowly as they are. They are also affected by the Famished condition, something only available in theSurvival mode ofSkyrim. The Famished condition makes the player 70% less effective at sneaking and stealth, and reduces attack speed by 30%.

The clip has seen a lot of attention on Reddit, withSkyrimplayers comparing the swings to the disappointing punches thrown in a dream. Others imagined how embarrassing it would be to get hit by what is seen by many asone of the worst axes inSkyrim. Some said that in terms of the lore ofThe Elder Scrolls, this made sense, as Clavicus Vile is often known as the Daedric Prince of Bargains and Insidious Wishes. He is known for entering pacts with mortals and often making sure the mortal in question is left with a twisted version of their wish.

Apart from the Rueful Axe, theSkyrimplayer in the clip is also wielding Dragon Bone armor, something that is often acquired late into aSkyrimplaythrough by the killing of many dragons. Whether the player in question managed to kill those dragons with the Rueful Axe is unlikely, though if that is the case it seems an embarrassing fate for the dragons.
