Earlier in March,Sea of Thievesbecame one of the most pre-ordered gameson PlayStation’s store as excitement continues to build among Sony fans, who will soon get to dive into developer Rare’s unique pirate adventure game.Sea of Thieves' PS5 edition will feature crossplay just like the Xbox and PC versions do, and the approaching release will likely provide a significant boost toSea of Thieves' player population.

As Rare prepares forSea of Thieves' PS5 launch, it released a new update for the game. The update’s most notable addition is Epic’s Easy Anti-Cheat, which comes after a previousannouncement that a newSea of Thievesanti-cheatwas finally on the way. EAC is used in games likeFortniteandApex Legendsand will regularly receive updates to continue countering cheat developers. Also, the new update made the Safer Seas solo mode available toSea of Thievesowners who don’t have a Game Pass subscription.
The update makes a small change toSea of Thieves' Adventuresby removing its tab in the quick menu, which Rare says should create a more streamlined experience. Additionally, players now see a Message of the Day upon launchingSea of Thieves, which highlights new features, upcoming content, or other news. The update’s download size comes in at 35 to 45 GB on Xbox consoles, 4 GB on Steam, and 100 GB on the Microsoft Store.
Microsoft Store owners shouldn’t have to deal with massive updates for much longer.Sea of Thievesimplemented Xbox’s newest Game Development Kitlast month, which set the stage for smaller updates in the future. Rare says the reduced download sizes should begin to materialize with the next update.
The new patch also refreshesSea of Thieves' Emporiumby adding new items like the Stone Islehopper Outlaw Ship Collection, Roaring Grog Emote Bundle, and Gold Curse Whippet. Some old items return as well, such as the Spartan Ship Collection and Ravenwood Costume Set. Additionally, users can claim the Blow Bubbles Emote for free and check out the new Classics Range section of the Emporium, which sells older ship collections at reduced prices.
