She suggested that Warner Bros. is practicing “hesitancy and caution” due to the ongoing controversies surrounding J.K. Rowling and wanting the game to avoid similar backlash.

Millie A included a tweet from an account called LatestPS5, which claimed to provide more context forHogwarts Legacy’s absence at The Game Awards 2021. While no evidence was provided to back up their claims, LatestPS5 said that Warner Bros. “made a late call” to remove aHogwarts Legacytrailer from The Game Awards, opting to show theWonder Womangameinstead. They added thatHogwarts Legacyis now expected to be shown at a rumored upcoming PlayStation event.
Hogwarts Legacyfans should take all of this information with a grain of salt. WithHogwarts Legacy’s release date still planned for 2022, it is a bit odd that more of the game hasn’t been shown, and it seems like it would have been an obvious pick for The Game Awards. However, this doesn’t mean that the game was planned for the event and pulled as the leaks suggest; it’s entirely possible that it was never planned for The Game Awards at all, so fans should keep that in mind.
As for what rumored PlayStation event may be coming up, that’s unclear. It’s possible this is in reference to a new PlayStation State of Play event, though there haven’t been many rumblings about Sony hosting another one of those anytime soon. Thelast State of Play aired this past October, and it was widely criticized for focusing more on smaller indie games instead of the bigger titles that fans have come to expect from the events.
