According to Insider Gaming’s source,Assassin’s Creed Redis ‘facing some issues in development,’ though it seems the exact reasoning why is not detailed. This seemingly supports reports earlier this year, via TheGamer, thatdevelopers were leavingAssassin’s Creed Reddue to Jonathan Dumont’s involvement, one of the many men accused of abuse and harassment within Ubisoft. It is unknown if TheGamer and Insider Gaming’s sources are referencing the same “issues in development,” but it does seem plausible.

Meanwhile,Assassin’s Creed Hexehas reportedly received overwhelming positivity from those working on it, withAssassin’s Creed Valhalla’s lead writer Darby McDevittspearheading this franchise entry. This positivity has existed since its proof-of-concept stages, with the game potentially entering full production soon. Finally, it is understood thatAC Redis internally focusing on a 2024 release date, whileAC Hexecould be a 2026 title. However, given the early stages of each game as well as the reported issues withAssassin’s Creed Red, fans shouldn’t mark these years on the calendar quite yet.

Game development is an ever-changing beast, after all, andAssassin’s Creed Redcould quickly get back on track/Hexecould stumble as production and development move forward. That’s just the nature of the beast. And while fans shouldn’t definitely treat this as a rumor and nothing more, it is nice to see that Ubisoft potentially has the next few years planned out. It’s got to find its mojo betweenhuge releases likeAssassin’s Creed Valhallaand avoid a tiring, annual release cadence, but it should be applauded for trying to offer something to all of the franchise’s varied fans.
