Resident Evil 3’scampaign is a tightly knit narrative which doesn’t waste time with meaningless side stories or unnecessary characters. With that being said, there are still some unanswered questions and stories untold we’d like to see explored in future downloadable content forRE3.

Resident Evil 2’sremake last year featured aDLCdetailing fictional “what if” scenarios around supportingcharacters, but it would cooler if the recent game’s single-player content added to the lore and filled in the blanks. The franchise is brimming with interesting characters, so give these supporting roles some time to shine in the spotlight. Be wary of some spoilers before reading on.

10Nicholai

Nicholai gives the player bad vibes long before he’s revealed as thehuman antagonistof the story. He is motivated purely by greed, a central theme in the plot, and does everything for the purpose of earning a paycheck.

If players got to see things from his point of view, perhaps it would shed some light on his personality and why he chose to become a mercenary. One can make some educated guesses as to who he is working for, but pulling the curtain on it once and for all would be a satisfying treat for fans.

9Tyrell

Tyrell Patrick is a real mensch, always out to help Carlos andJillat any given opportunity instead of trying to escape on his own.

What does he get for it but a gruesome death at the hands of Nemesis? He spends some time off-camera making his way towards Jill and Carlos, making us wonder if this will be covered in a future DLC mission. It is the least the developers could do to honor his memory after all he does for the protagonists.

8What Carlos Does After The Campaign

For decades now, fans have been wondering what Carlos does after Raccoon City’s annihilation. Given his employer, he most likely cannot go back to a normal life.

Does he go on the run, hiding from the evil corporation, or does he go on the offensive and attempt to take down the company? Whatever the case, fans would like to play it for themselves rather than read about it in a document.

7Nemesis

Playing as the villain is nothing new for the series - Wesker is playable in several prior entries andAda Wonghas gotten her own campaigns inResident Evil 4and6- but never has one taken control of the Tyrant in a cannon scenario.

SinceResident Evilis best when it does the unexpected, a fully fleshed out DLC campaign where one plays as Nemesis during Jill’s adventure would be an interesting twist. In a game all about resource management and facing off ferocious beasts, turning the tables would be a solid power fantasy.

6Kendo Before His Daughter Gets Infected

Resident Evil 2’sDLC includes a chapter detailing the gun shop owner’s exploits after his daughter’s tragic death, but how did he end up in this terrible situation in the first place? Did the young girl get bitten as a result of his error, or was it out of his control?

His small cameo inResident Evil3came as a surprise, but it did little to expand his character other than finding out he is a beloved staple of the city. His plight adds humanity to the often bombastic action of the franchise.

5Guy Who Nicholai Kills

Nicholai introduces himself by killing a comrade who is infected just as Jill approaches the wounded U.B.C.S. officer. It shows just how heartless he is and how little he values other lives. Who was that guy exactly, and how did he end up in his predicament? We don’t even know his name.

A DLC campaign starring him could significantly expand upon the poor soul. Perhaps Nicholai had another reason for killing him off. Maybe he discovered Nicholai’s ulterior motive and was about to tell the rest of the team before the villain silenced him with a bullet.

Resident Evil 3 kendo

Brad Vickers receives little screen time, despite appearing in every game of the original trilogy. His biggest role inResident Evil 3sees him biting it early in the campaign, valiantly sacrificing himself to save Jill.

Capcom should give the supporting character his due by letting fans control him, showing how he made his way to Jill’s apartment. He had to have a run in with Nemesis prior to meeting up with his former partner in S.T.A.R.S. since he was aware of the monster’s mission to take out the remaining members of the team.

3The Refugees On The Subway

The first part of the adventure centers around rounding evacuating civilians via the subway. A short mission detailing the U.B.S.C. scouring the city for survivors would be fun and give players an opportunity to see other parts of the doomed city.

Maybe it could also answer why a city with a population of barely over one hundred thousand people has a subway system. Then again, it is ill-advised to try and think about the franchise’s logic.

2How The U.B.C.S. Infiltrated The City

Jill is introduced to the U.B.C.S. through a dramatic rocket launcher delivered to Nemesis via Carlos. What happened before then, though? Playing as this squad could give the company a chance to redeem themselves for the lackluster efforts they’ve made at squad-based shooting in the series likeOperation Raccoon Cityfrom 2012.

The base game has several segments of mowing down hordes of undead, and more of that would be welcome.

1How The Underground Lab Got Compromised

The last part ofResident Evil 3takes place in NEST 2, an underground lab focused on making a T-Virus vaccine. Obviously, something in the facility went terribly wrong and it ended up like the rest of Raccoon City.

Shedding more light on the lab’s operations through a prequel story would not only let players know happened, but it would also give a more detailed look at Umbrella’s operations, something the series has yet to do.
