The patent, shared by PatentScope, details an identification system that will stop videos of gameplay being shared on the internet anonymously. This patent is “a player identification system for identifying players from recorded video content.” It seems that frames from video clips will identify players through character and name recognition, which will then allow players to have content attributed to them correctly. While manyPlayStation 5players may not upload publically, this technology could also help with players who share videos with friends and want to prove the validity of their images. This may not be a huge change to the gaming experience but this does look like a step forward in terms of social sharing.
At the moment,Sony is establishing several patents and trademarksin the build-up to the PlayStation 5. With that in mind, it is currently unclear whether these licensed materials will be featured at the launch of the next generation of consoles or whether they will be implemented in later editions of the console. Equally, some ideas may never make it to release as a patent is an early stage of the development cycle.
