A few months ago, Prime Gaming teamed up with Blizzard to give away monthly loot drops for several of its games, includingWorld of Warcraft. Many of these freebies have been cosmetic items, mounts, and minions previously onlyavailable through the discontinuedWorld of Warcraft Trading Card Game.

Now,World of Warcrafthas continued this trendfor July. From now until July 20, players with Amazon Prime subscriptions can claim the Swift Shorestrider mount for free. To do so, players must create and link their Twitch and Amazon accounts to theirWorld of Warcraftone. Prime Gaming rewards can be claimed even on free trials of Amazon Prime, so players who do not have subscriptions can still get this mount, provided they have not already used their trial.

The Swift Shorestrider has only ever beenavailable through theWorld of Warcraft TCG. It was redeemed through a code on the Wasteland Tallstrider card from theThrone of the Tidesexpansion in 2011, but sold for close to $500 now that it is out of print. The mount itself is a blue tint of the ostrich-like Tallstriders native to Kalimdor, the model of which received a modern facelift back inBattle for Azeroth.

Most players are excited about the chance to earn the Swift Shorestrider mount. TheWorld of Warcraft TCGwas discontinued a decade ago, so the items from its codes are impossible to get without spending a lot of money. Now thatWorld of Warcrafthas offered items like the Feldrake, Big Battle Bear, and the Ethereal Portal hearthstone toy through Prime Gaming and Twitch drops, players are hoping other rare items are given out in the future.

Some players are less enthusiastic about theserecentWorld of Warcraftcampaigns. Players who pulled these cards in the past, or who spent hundreds or thousands of dollars to get them, feel cheated by having their collector’s items handed out to players for free. Unfortunately for these fans, it seemsWorld of Warcrafthas every intention of continuing the trend. While it will probably never offer extremely rare items like the Reins of the Spectral Tiger, players who enjoy the prestige of having these collectibles should prepare for them to become less rare soon.

World of Warcraftis available now for PC.
