Summary
Stardew Valley’s upcoming 1.6 update has had fans in the palm of its hand since its announcement, as they anxiously await the arrival of three new festivals, new items, new dialogue, and more. Among the new festivals being added is a New Year’s festival, which ConcernedApe teased on New Year’s Eve 2023 on X (formerly Twitter).
While a New Year’s festival is certainly good news forStardew Valleyfans, another significant addition coming in the game’s 1.6 update is a new farm type. As ConcernedApe has yet to disclose what the new farm type will be, it has mostly been left up to speculation. However, it’s possible to predict what new farm map will be added based on what farmsStardew Valleycurrently has and what type of farm it could still benefit from to make the charming farm sim experience even better.

Predicting the New Farm Type Coming to Stardew Valley in the 1.6 Update
Every Farm Type Currently in Stardew Valley
There are currently seven differentfarm types for players to choose from inStardew Valley, each of which offers unique benefits in terms of what regularly spawns on the farm and what extracurricular opportunities players will have. Along with the added benefits of each farm, players also get to enjoy a different look and layout.
Each farm layout inStardew Valleyprovides a variety of unique opportunities for players by changing its overall geological structure. As different items can be gathered from different sources, it’s important that players choose a farm type that best suits their interests in terms of both design and convenience. While all seven farm types currently offered inStardew Valleyalready provide a plethora of unique services and appearances, there is still another that could be implemented in the game’s 1.6 update to add even more.
What New Farm Type Could Be Added to Stardew Valley in 1.6
Of all the farm types currently inStardew Valley, there is one particular “biome” that is still unavailable: a swamp. Players are currently given access to a swamp — specifically, the Witch’s Swamp — inStardew Valleyupon completion of the “Dark Talisman” quest, where they can fish for Void Salmon, Void Mayonnaise, Catfish, Green Algae, and White Algae. The inclusion of a swamp farm would make these items even more readily available while offering what could arguably be one of the most unique farm designs to date.
A swamp farm has been requested for some time by theStardew Valleycommunity, which also increases the likeliness of it being added in the game’s 1.6 update. However, what new farm type 1.6 will add remains to be seen, as that much has not been divulged just yet. It’s likely fans will hear more information from ConcernedApe very soon, especially with the update slated for release sometime this year.
