Square Enix’s surprise hitPowerWash Simulatorfinally has an official release date for its upcomingFinal FantasyDLC, which is going to launch as a free expansion for every owner of the base game on March 2. Billed specifically as a showpiece for some ofFinal Fantasy 7’s most iconic vehicles and weapons, the expansion promises a new set of infinitely re-washable goodies for fans of the quirky sim.WhereasSquare Enixmay be best known for its flagship properties, such as theFinal Fantasyfranchise and the more recentForspoken, the company is no stranger to funding a variety of other projects too. It just so happens thatPowerWash Simulatorended up being one of its more popular smaller-scale investments, and whether due to the game’s meme value or, perhaps, because of its zen-like nature, it has only become more popular.RELATED:PowerWash Simulator Dev Discusses the Game’s Design, Teases New ContentThe existence ofPowerWash Simulator’sFinal Fantasy 7DLCwas first shown off late in January 2023, though the free update didn’t have an actual release date at the time. Now, however, developer FuturLab has announced that the freeMidgar Special Packwould be made available across all platforms on March 2. Players should be able to start washing legendaryFinal Fantasy 7items starting at 9 AM PST / 12 PM EST / 5 PM GMT, according to FuturLab’s latest post on Twitter.

Much as was the case withPowerWash Simulator’s earlierTomb RaiderDLC, this free batch of content features a few notable locations that fans ofFinal Fantasy 7will have come to know and love. Specifically, players can expect to clean up the Seventh Heaven bar, the Airbuster, and the Mako Energy Exhibit, as well as the Scorpion Sentinel, Shinra Hauler, and Hardy Daytona vehicles.

It’s highly unlikely that theMidgar Special Packwill introduce any huge changes or revamps to the game’s core gameplay loop. Instead, all the usualbeginner tips forPowerWash Simulatorshould apply, and the big draw is the simple fact that there’s a fairly significant chunk of new content being added to the game at no additional charge. Since it’s all themed afterFinal Fantasy, however, it’s not impossible that some newcomers may finally jump in, too.

ConsideringPowerWash Simulator’s success, Square Enix may continue funding further DLC for it after theMidgar Special Packcomes out, too, though it remains to be seen what, exactly, the next step might end up being.

PowerWash Simulatoris currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
