For a long time,Beat Saberwas a huge pull in bringing fans into VR. A player being able to swing around lightsaber blades to the beat of popular music tracks is a huge draw in itself. Today, after a year’s delay, a feature that has already has come to the rhythm and music VR game on PC via SteamVR and Oculus is finally here for players experiencing the game onPlayStation VR.
Beat Saberwas released on July 13, 2025 and for two and a half years, developer Beat Games Studio has continued to supportBeat Saberwith free content and various updates. Beat Games announced the launch of the new multiplayer feature on Twitter and PlayStation’s Official Blog and that fans could start participating today. While the new multiplayer mode arrives as a free update, however, fans will need a PlayStation Plus subscription to experience it.

After a disappointingBeat Sabermultiplayer delay, fans were surprised with an official announcement that the multiplayer mode launches today.Beat Sabermultiplayer launched for PC last year and it also featured crossplay options. Beat Games noted at the time that it was “exploring what’s possible.” While there is no crossplay between the PSVR and the PC versions as of yet, today’s tweet also included “currently not supported,” so there is still a chance thatBeat Sabercrossplay between the PC versions and PS4 could still arrive at a future date.
Beat Saberfor PSVR will have all the same updates that SteamVR and Oculusplayers have had for a year. Players can now join multiplayer matches with up to five total players via quickplay or a private server and that is just the start. The update will also include all player stats with a winner standing on a podium (and a firework display) after a game is over. Additionally, multiplayer badges will be given after the match in everything from most precise to slowest.
As part of this update,Beat Saberalso launched a Halloween special. A brand new free song, “Spooky Beat” by Jaroslav Beck that will be set in a Halloween environment. Fans will also be able to set custom colors for their avatar to make themselves stand out in the looby and multiplayer arena.Any song from the PSVR version ofBeat Saber’s soundtrack can be selected, as can the newest Halloween song as well asDLC music packs from artists like Linkin Parkand more.
