Fairy-types are gaining ground in the Pokéverse! BothPokemon Sword and Shieldare loaded with Fairy-types, and gamers are thrilled! Although Game Freak didn’t get around tointroducing Fairy-types until Gen 6, the fairies have already cemented themselves as fan favorites, due to their creative designs and wonderful versatility.

If players want a strong and versatile team, then they are going to need at least oneFairy-type or some Fairy-type combination. Now that both rounds of DLCs have been released and the region is complete, let’s take a look at the best areas to explore to find Fairy-types inPokemon Sword and Shield.

We thought it best to update this list to include more details about these creatures and organize the information a bit better.
So, let’s take an in-depth look at each of these areas and the Pokemon that can be found there. We will also review what makes each of these creatures interesting, justhow useful they are in gameplay, and any special conditions that need to be met for their capture.
10Lake of Outrage
The Lake of Outrage is a lake and cliffsidearea in the northwest of the Wild Area. It connects to Giant’s Cap and features a circle of large, upright stones. Fairy-types abound here and different ones will appear in different types of weather.

9Route 4
Route 4 of theGalar Regionislocated just north of the Galar Mine and Turffield.It is a straightforward route with a lot of vibrant, yellow grass. The PokémonCutiefly and Milcerycan be found in the grass here as random encounters in both versions. Eevee is also located here and can turn intoSylveonif you level Eevee up with high friendship while simultaneously knowing a Fairy-type move. The Sylveon evolution was one of theoriginal Fairy-types introduced in Gen 6.

8Stony Wilderness
The Stony Wilderness is a locationfound just south of the town of Hammerlockein the Wild Area. A bunch of Fairy-types can be found here in the grass as random encounters depending on the area’s weather.Cottoneecan be found here if it’s cloudy,Ribombeeif it’s either clear or cloudy,Spritzeeif it’s cloudy (Shield only),Swirlixif it’s cloudy (Sword only), andImpidimpin any weather except for sandstorm.

7Glimwood Tangle
Glimwood Tangle is an area thatcan be accessed as soon as a player completes Stow-on-Side’s gym. It is a dark forest, dimly lit with glowing mushrooms. It contains several Fairy-type Pokemon, some of which are version-dependent. Due to the darkness,Dusk Balls are the way to go here.

6Dusty Bowl
The Dusty Bowl is located in the center of thenorthern end of the Wild Area. If a player is looking for Fairy-types,Gardevoir, Meowstic, and Hattremcan all be found here.
However, the real reason to visit the Dusty Bowl is that,in foggy conditions, Togekiss can be found flying around the area. Togekiss is beloved among Poké-fans because it is not only adorable but also extremely powerful. This gives players, who missed their opportunity to capture one in the Stoney Wilderness, another shot at a powerful Pokemon.
5Isle of Armor
Isle of Armor was the first of 2 downloadable content (DLC) expansion packsreleased to supplementPokemon Sword and Shield. It was first released on July 09, 2025. Many of the Pokemon not included in the base game were thankfully included in the Isle of Armor.Players can find Dedenne, Comfey, the Azumarill line, and the Jigglypuff line there.

4Crown Tundra
Crown Tundra, the second DLC expansion packs was released on June 11, 2025. Many more of the Pokémon not included in the base game were added with the release of Crown Tundra. Some of these wereCarbink, Xerneas, and Diancie.

3Ballimere Lake
This is the first of 3 areas located within Crown Tundra where you may find specific Fairy-types.Ballimere Lake is located in the deep South of Crown Tundra. Let’s face it, even if there were no Fairy-types around here, you would still want to go explore the lake just for the spectacular view! Luckily though, if players explore this area closely, they can findMime Jr, Hatenna, and Hattremhere.
Mr. Mimeis solid. Its Special Attack, Special Defense and Speed are very good, Filter and Technician are both great abilities, and it only comes with 3 weaknesses in Poison, Steel, and Ghost.
2Lakeside Cave
The second area is Lakeside Cave, which islocated just beside Ballimere Lake. Once there, if players decide to participate in a little cave exploration, they will findMawile and Carbink. Don’t be fooled by Mawile’s appearance. This creature may be small, at 2 feet tall and 25 pounds, but it is also a Steel/Fairy-type, which is considered by many to be one of thestrongest type combinations availablein the Pokéverse.
Despite its excellent type combination, however, Mawile struggles to really do much. While the type combination is incredible, and bothSheer Force and Intimidate are great abilities, its stats are so awful that they completely undermine everything. Use this one with caution.
1Giant’s Bed
Giant’s Bed is also located in Crown Tundra. Players can find itSoutheast of Freezington past Frostpoint Field. It is well worth the trip, becauseClefairy, Clefable, Hatenna, and Mime Jr.can all be found in this area. The headliner here is Clefairy which is considered by many to be the best of the Pure Fairy-types.
Clefable definitely has earned its title.Pure Fairy is a very strong type, Magic Guard is an amazing ability (the Pokemon with this ability cannot be damaged from indirect causes) and the stats are very good, with its HP, Special Attack, and Special Defense being solid. The thing that really makes Clefable stand out, however, is the combination of the Life Orb item and Magic Guard. Clefable will still get the power boost from the Life Orb, but not take any damage from it,making it quite the powerhouse.
