WhenPokemon SwordandShieldannounced it would be taking a different path in terms of post-launch content, opting for a season pass and two DLCs in lieu of a special third edition, many were ecstatic. It’s a brand new direction, doesn’t require purchasing a whole new game, and will addmany of the cut Pokemon(even if some are split over this part of the decision).
However, it’s been a relatively quiet news front in recent weeks, as no information on thePokemon SwordandShieldIsle of Armor DLC has been revealed for quite some time. It’s also slightly strange timing given this DLC is set to release this month, but that’s all about to change.

As seen below and roughly translated by Twitter, “new information” aboutPokemon SwordandShield’s Expansion Passis dropping tomorrow. The time is shown as 22:00, or 10 PM, and this is presumably based on the time in Japan. As such, fans can expect to finally learn more about the Isle of Armor DLC at roughly 6 AM PT/ 8 AM CT on June 2.
The big question is what will exactly be shown, especially given that it specifies the Expansion Pass itself, not just the Isle of Armor DLC. Presumably, the latter will be the one discussed most since it is set to release first, and that likely means fans will finally knowPokemon SwordandShield’s Isle of Armor release date, with a look atnew evolutionsand more also likely.
That’s good and bad, depending on the context. With the announcement coming tomorrow, the end of June seems most likely, although Nintendo has been known to surprise drop releases in the past. If pastSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatecharactersare any indication, it’s not impossible to rule out a surprise release tomorrow.
On the other hand, the world’s a bit different today than it normally is for a video game’s release. The amount of stillness surrounding the DLC potentially suggests tomorrow’s announcement could be adelay forPokemon SwordandShield’s DLC, as COVID-19 has been rough on Nintendo. Still, this seems like something the company would be upfront with, so barring this minor possibility, fans have a lot of reason to be excited for tomorrow.
