Initially, shiny creatures had a very low appearance rate, appearing in random encounters only one out of 8,192 times, on average. Fortunately, this changed over time, and now their appearance rate has doubled, going to one chance in 4,096 inPokemon X and Y. However, even with these improvements, shinies are still very rare, and some players may beat the game without ever capturing one.
Now, thePokemon Scarlet and Violetplayer SmallishBear020 shared a short clip about a curious event, which happened while they were engaged in EV training. They had just defeated a Lv.26 Girafarig using a Sylveon and left the game for some seconds as soon as the battle stopped. Suddenly, the gamer was attacked by a black shiny Paldean Tauros, which came out of nowhere.
While the player is undeniably incredibly lucky for this to happen, they did equip a Shiny Charm before starting to train in that region.The Shiny Charm inPokemon Scarlet and Violetis a rare item that increases the probability of finding Shinies from one in 4096 to one in 2044, and it can be combined with other in-game effects to improve the chances even more. It’s quite hard to find, as a gamer needs to capture every Pokemon in Paldea to get it, but it’s very useful for shiny hunters.
SmallishBear020 was not the onlyPokemon Scarlet and Violetplayer to be surprised by a shiny when they least expected it, though. Back in August, a player had theirDragon-only Nuzlocke Run ruined by a shiny. At the time, the gamer was trying to use only Dragon-type Pokemon during their playthrough. However, in one of the first areas of the game, they found a shiny Shinx, which they promptly captured, as they simply could not let such a unique chance pass. To deal with the unexpected turn of events, the player then decided to change the rules to an Electric-type run so they could continue the challenge and keep their prize.
