A recent leak reveals that everyPokemontype plays a major role amongPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s specialists (namely gym leaders, Elite Four, and Team Star Bosses), except one: the Rock type. For some reason, it is the only type not associated with a specialist trainer, meaning it probably doesn’t feature heavily in the games. Now, it could be thatPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s champion focuses on Rock types, though that is unlikely, or it could be that the Treasure Hunt storyline just so happens to feature a bunch of Rock Types (as it revealed Klawf), but it remains to be seen.

Nonetheless, knowing these various types ahead of time, should someone choose, may be good forteam planning inPokemon Scarlet and Violet. For example, the Elite Four all share a weakness that fans would be wise to exploit when they get that far. It should be noted that this leak comes way of aggregate leak account @CentroLeaks, meaning that all of this should be taken with a grain of salt.

It’s uncertain how fans will approach gym leaders inPokemon Scarlet and Violetbecause of their open-world design, especially as it seems there is no scaling, but fans will be going through the traditional gym challenge nonetheless. These trainers, in whatever order they will appear, will supposedly be tied to the following types:

As always, fans will be able to take on the Elite Four after defeating the 8 gym leaders around the region. The Elite Four are said to feature specialist trainers in Flying types, Dragon types, Ground types, and Steel types. This means, with the proper training and a strong Ice-type Pokemon, players may be able to sweep 3/4 Elite Four with relative ease (as Ice is super effective against Flying, Dragon, and Ground Types).

Then, as part as theTeam Star storyline inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, leaders from that team will use Fairy, Dark, Poison, Fire, and Fighting. It’s definitely a bit more random than most villain teams, even if Team Star isn’t the most intimidating. It should be noted thatPokemon S/Vare getting an engine Pokemon, seen in the recent trailer but not named, and it’s probably tied to the Poison leader here. Nonetheless, it remains to be seen how accurate this proves and how, if, and where Rock-types fit in down the road.
