Over on r/PokemonScarletViolet, Redditor Extension_Major_9013 shared a photo from their playthrough ofScarlet and Violetin which enlarged images of a black-colored eye suddenly appeared on the game’s menu screens. They claim that they were just editing the moves on their Haxorus when the eyes abruptly appeared. It’s not clear whether Extension_Major_9013 were able to make the images go away or how long they appeared.
The Glitch Likely Involved Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Iris Color Texture
Fellow Redditors had some jokes about the occurrence, ranging from naming it a new creepypasta to calling it a biblically accurate Haxorus, referencing the descriptions of angels in the Bible in which they are surrounded by many eyes.Unsettling graphics glitches are nothing new for thePokemonfranchise, and while there’s a perfectly rational explanation – another Redditor suggested that Extension_Major_9013’s copy just had a bug involving the iris color texture that players choose from at the beginning of each playthrough – these incidents naturally lend themselves to a multitude of scary urban legends involving the games.
Despite this, not all glitches are creepy. A useful bug that players discovered this year saw a way toget unlimited items inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, but the developers were quick to patch it and shut the exploit down, even if the cheat was a bit complicated to pull off.
