Pokemon fans were treated this week to a brand-new update for thePokemon Homeapplication, available on the Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. Version 2.0. adds connectivity to the more recent mainlinePokemongames, includingPokemon Legends: Arceus,Pokemon Brilliant Diamond, andPokemon Shining Pearl. Fans can now deposit Pokemon from these games intoPokemon Homeand trade them between older games likeSwordandShieldandLet’s GO Pikachu and Eevee.

However, an issue might arise for thePokemon Homeplayers out there on Switchwho are trying to deposit some Pokemon.

How to Fix “The Save Data for This Game is Not the Latest Version”

IfPokemon Homeplayers go to the Deposit section of the main menu, they’ll see the list of compatiblePokemongames. It’s possible to deposit Pokemon from all of them; however, some players will be unable to do this because of their saved data.

Not only does thePokemongame need to be updated to its latest version, but players need to have a save file that’s from the updated version. So if players have not touchedPokemon Legends: Arceusin months, andPokemon Homeisn’t letting them deposit Pokemon, the players need to hop into their file and save the game. And the same goes forPokemon BDSP,Pokemon Let’s GO, andPokemon Sword & Shield.

How to Save

Tosave the game inPokemon Legends: Arceus, players just need to press the up button on the d-pad and then hit the triggers to go over to the Save section. Press A to save. As forPokemon BDSP,Sword and Shield, andPokemon Let’s GOplayers, just open up the menu and press the save option.

Once players have created a new save data for the updated version of the game, go back into the Pokemon Home app, and it should now let players connect to the game of their choice. Pick the Pokemon to deposit, and then send them over to hang out inPokmon Home.

Strange Balls

It’s also worth noting that sincePokemon Legends: Arceustakes place in a past version of the Sinnoh region, thePoke Balls used are differentthan the ones used in modernPokemongames. So, when Pokemon caught inPokemon Brilliant Diamond,Pokemon Shining Pearl,Pokemon Sword, orPokemon Shieldare transferred toPokemon Legends: Arceus, they will appear in Strange Balls. However, the Strange Balls will not appear inPokemon SwordandPokemon Shield.
