APokemon GOplayer found a rare shnundo Zoroark by complete chance during a hunt. It was the opposite of a “shundo,“a term coined byPokemon GOplayersthat refers to any Pokemon who innately possesses a value of 15 in all three main stats.
Since its 2016 release,Pokemon GOhas become a runaway success for Niantic and The Pokemon Company, remaining the longest-supported Nintendo-affiliated mobile title to this day. It’s also notable for being one of the last projectsformer Nintendo president Satoru Iwatagot to work on before his untimely passing in 2015.
During a recent Halloween event,Shiny Zoroark was added toPokemon GO, and one player managed to find one who is also a shnundo. That player was Reddit user BenderPanda22, who stated that they’ve never caught a shundo before. As seen in their post, the specimen in question is a Shiny Zoroark, who was caught in the New York area on October 30, has 90 HP, weighs 54.17 kg, and is male. Notably, its stats are all blank, making it the opposite of a shundo, hence the altered term.
Fellow Redditors in the comments expressed their awe and jealousy over such a lucky find, with some taking the time to correct the user’s terminology. Many also took the time to share stories about their own Shiny and shundo collections, with some expressing frustration over their lack of luck in finding such specimens. One user noted that due to this particular Zoroark’s stats, it was effectively the most useless teammate aPokemon GOplayer could possess. In the replies, the OP stated that they were already aware of their specimen not being a shundo, but nonetheless appeared content at finding such an unusual Pokemon.
Luck factoring into gameplay has been a divisive topic among gamers for the longest time, andPokemon GOis no exception, whether it be rare finds like this one, or instances ofPokemon GOplayers almost suffering accidentsduring a casual hunt. But one cannot deny that whenever one manages to luck out in any video game, it sure can feel cathartic, and some can even find hints of solace in moments of bad luck.
