The latest is called Hidden Gems, which runs through the summer months and features a number of planned events for fans to participate in.Community Day for June puts Axew in the spotlight, newly added Shadow Raids features Articuno, and there’s also an upcoming Research Day Event with featured Pokemon and a chance at capturing Roaming Form Gimmighoul.
Hidden Gems also features a Water Festival eventwhich puts a focus on specific Water-types with a rare chance at Mantine and Popplio. Raids bring back the trio of Mesprit, Azelf, and Uxie, though for this week-long event, they’re region specific. Interested players can also take part in a Global Challenge to throw 300 Nice Throws to unlock bonuses like increased candy for caught Pokemon.

However, for mostPokemon GOplayers, the real start of the Water Festival is the debut of theGhost and Ground types Sandygast and Palossand. Water Festival: Beach Week is the best time to grab these two Pokemon and thankfully, unlocking them isn’t that difficult.
How to Catch Sandygast
During Beach Week from June 6 to the 12th, players have a few different ways to find a Sandygast:
While catching 25 water-type Pokemon is pretty straightforward, the fastest option for many will be one-star raids as these are the lowest difficulty than many are able to take on solo, especially with a team that can target its weaknesses of Dark, Ghost, Grass, Ice, and Water.
Either way,Pokemon GOplayers will want to catch at least one during the event as it is unknown how rare the spawn for Sandygast will be once it comes to an end.
How to Catch Palossand
In order to evolve Sandygast into its evolved form Palossand, players will need to have 50 Sandygast candies. Considering the limited ways and time that players can get a Sandygast,Pinap berries should be usedwhenever possible to maximize the amount of candy earned for every catch made.
