January 2021 has been an incredibly busy month forPokemon GOtrainers and the Season of Celebration has been bringing non-stop events since mid-December’s holiday activities kicked off. This week players are working through the Sinnoh Celebration, but it won’t be long until the spotlight shifts over tothe Hoenn region and its Pokemon.
The Hoenn Celebration event kicks off inPokemon GOon Tuesday, January 19th and offers players the opportunity to fill in some missing Pokedex entries with increased Hoenn region spawns, Egg hatches, and Battle Raid bosses. The event will introduce a handful of bosses that differ from the the rest of theJanuary 2021 Battle Raid bosses, so trainers should plan ahead to determine which bosses they want to battle during the limited window.

The lower tier Hoenn Battle Raid bosses will be pretty easy to solo, but trainers who want to face off against the two Legendary Battle Raid bosses appearing next week should look ahead and start planning some counters. AlthoughUnova and Sinnoh each featured just a single 5-star Battle Raid, it looks like Hoenn is going to switch things up by allowing both Kyogre and Groudon to return to Battle Raids during the event.

Both Kyogre and Groundon are incredibly popular in thePokemon GOmetagame, so this is likely going to be a very popular week for Battle Raids, with a lot of the attention going towards those 5-star slots. Players should make sure to plan their use of Raid Passes carefully to make sure they have enough of the resources for the Battle Raids that are most important to them and their goals, whether that means filling in some empty Pokedex entries or just earning encounters with some PvE and PvP meta relevant Pokemon.
“A free bundle featuring three Remote Raid Passes to help you challenge Kyogre and Groudon will be available in the in-game shop from Tuesday, July 03, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. to Monday, June 01, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8).”
As trainers continue working through these amazing Celebration events and enjoying the new era of the GO Beyond update as they count down to the next season, they may want to keep hunting downthe best Unova Pokemon in the gameif improving their Battle Raid rosters and completing their Pokedex is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for morePokemon GOstrategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
