As the world finally opens up following strict pandemic safety measures,Pokemon GOhas maintained its place as one of the most popular mobile games ever. While developer Niantic isaltering the currentPokemon GObonuses as regulations change, it continues the trend of presenting events based on some notable Pokemon. The game’s most recent celebration focuses on a fan favorite and players are already having some fun with the choice.
Pokemon GOis currentlycelebrating the popular beaver Pokemon Bidoof with its own Breakout Event, which will run until July 1. Over the next few days, Bidoof will be a common spawn withPokemon GOplayers having the chance to catch the shiny variant of the fan favorite.

So with Bidoof finally getting its due, it should come as no surprise that Niantic is enticingPokemon GOplayers to shower Bidoof with love. The officialPokemon GOTwitter account posted a call to all players to share their adoration for the “Plump Mouse” Pokemon, making what it describes as a “Bidoof appreciation thread.” Going through the over 500 comments, many fans have taken Niantic up on the offer by pushing Bidoof love through memes. The thread is filled with fans playing up on Bidoof’s notoriety within the Pokemon community.
Bidoof has always been something of a fan favorite and a joke for a few reasons. Its evolution Bidarel was notoriously what many fans considered to be the greatest “HM slave” in the history of thePokemonfranchise. For the first sixPokemongenerations, Hidden Machine moves were a form of progression for players, but they were often reviled due to the necessity of removing a more powerful technique coupled with their permanent nature. In addition to a Pokemon requiring the ability to learn these specific moves, Bidarel served as the perfect HM Slave being able to learn six different HMs. With theupcoming releases ofPokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Bidoof and Bidarel will return to the spotlight as a necessary party addition.
The other reason for the resurgence of the Bidoof fanfare is due in part to the Pokemon’s recent role inNew Pokemon Snapfor the Nintendo Switch. In the game’s introductory area, Bidoof plays an important role of being an unmissable Pokemon andheavily featured in all variations ofNew Pokemon Snap’s Florio Nature Park level.
So with Bidoof squarely in the spotlight, the Plump Mouse will start to fill up many a Pokemon Storage Bank which may require more space to hold the lovable Gen 4 favorite. As for what is to follow this Bidoof event, Niantic has confirmed thatTepig will be the nextPokemon GOCommunity Day choice for July.
