Summary
There’s one entertaining side feature fromPokemon Sword and Shieldthat would be good to see make a comeback once the series enters Generation 10. Even thoughPokemon Sword and Shieldare four and a half years old, the games are far from outdated.Pokemon Scarlet and Violetmay have more features and newer Pokemon, but fans can still go back to the previous generation and have a good time. In fact, there’s one feature fromSword and Shieldthat was sorely missing inScarlet and Violet. In that sense, Generation 8 may be a good inspiration for Generation 10.
Whenplaying through Generation 8 ofPokemon, there are a few details that will leap out at fans. Of course, the Wild Area is one of the hardest parts of the game to forget, since players could spend hours there collecting ingredients and catching Pokemon. On that note, going camping and making curry was another enjoyable part of the package. Not to mention, many of the Pokemon interactions in camp were just plain adorable. The approach to the Pokemon league, making it similar to a sports league, also helped the game capture a unique vibe and givePokemon Sword and Shielda concrete identity.

Pokemon Generation 10 Should Bring Back League Cards
League Cards Were Something Fun to Collect in Pokemon Sword and Shield
One special feature of thegym leaders inPokemon Sword and Shieldis that they all have League cards that the player can collect through various means. The gym leaders aren’t the only trainers with these cards wither, as rival characters like Hop and Marnie also get their own League cards for the player to collect. Each league card features a picture as well as a blurb about the character in question on the back, and they all have two to collect.Sword and Shield’s League Cards are essentially thePokemonequivalent of collecting baseball cards featuring famous players.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Didn’t Have Their Own League Cards
Unfortunately, League Cards were dropped immediately afterSword and Shield. Even thoughPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s profiles were an improvement, NPC League Cards were done away with entirely. The fun side content of collecting all of the cards was no more. Even though players got pictures with each of the gym leaders after defeating them, it wasn’t as satisfying as collecting League Cards.Pokemon Scarlet and Violethad a lot of features, and there’s no denying that. However, it would have been fun to see collectible League Cards make a comeback, especially with such colorful new characters as Nemona and Arven in the game.
Sword and Shield’s League Cards are essentially thePokemonequivalent of collecting baseball cards featuring famous players.
Pokemon Generation 10 Can Do Even More With League Cards
Bringing back League Cards would add a little extra lighthearted fun to Generation 10. It would be agood change forPokemonGeneration 10, even though it would basically just be reverting a previous change. A new incarnation of League Cards could involve collecting cards of prominent trainers in the region as before. However, it could also go even further by featuring famous trainers from previous generations. Iconic characters like Cynthia, Lance, and Red could get their own League Cards for the player to collect, making it into a more immersive experience. League Cards in Generation 10 could be a love letter to the whole franchise.
There is a lot of good that could come from bringing back League Cards forPokemon’s tenth generation. In addition to celebratingiconic characters inPokemon, it’s also just fun to find more cards and watch the collection fill up. It’s the same reason why a lot of people collectPokemoncards in real life, after all.Pokemon Scarlet and Violetmight have missed out on an opportunity by dropping League Cards. However, League Cards could still bePokemon Sword and Shield’s biggest gift toPokemonGeneration 10.
