Summary
SomePokemonfans have recently picked the four best alternative shiny Pokemon that look much better than their official shiny versions: pink Butterfree, purple Kecleon, black and white Electivire, and golden Sudowoodo. ThePokemonseries has many excellent official shiny designs, but these four creatures stand out due to their unique color palette.
Shinies are very rare Pokemonthat have alternative colors. These alternative Pokemon forms were introduced back inPokemon Gold and Silver, during the second generation of the games, and have been a prominent element of the franchise since then. Initially, players had one chance in 8,192 to find a shiny Pokemon in the wilds, but the number was boosted to 4,096 later. However, despite how valuable shinies are, fans are not always happy with the color picked by the developers to represent them.

Now, thePokemoncommunity has unofficially picked the four shinies that look better than their official counterparts featured in the mainline games of the series. A post made by UnderstandingOk3784 shared a picture of alternative versions of Butterfree, Kecleon, Electivire, and Sudowoodo, and managed to gain over 10,000 upvotes on r/Pokemon, proving that this is a pretty popular opinion. UnderstandingOk3784’s post shows at least one creature almost allPokemonfans will know about: the pink Butterfree. This was the first alternative color creature shown in thePokemonanimated series and theshiny creature ended up with Ash’s Butterfreein an early episode.
Fans Pick Butterfree, Kecleon, Sudowoodo, and Electivire As Best Alternative Shiny Pokemon
Most of the other shinyPokemonpicked by the community also come from the animated series. This includes the purple Kecleon, which is considered by many fans to be the superior shiny version of the creature, which is still depicted as green in the game. The golden Sudowoodo also only appeared in the anime, while its official shiny version in the games is green. Finally, the fan also shared a black and white Electivire from anunofficialPokemonfan game, thePokemon UnboundROM hack, and many agree it definitely looks better than the official shiny design.
That’s not to say that there are no good-looking shinyPokemon, though. While some versions such as the shiny green Kecleon are considered underwhelming by most fans, it’s not hard to findiconic shiny Pokemonin the official designs. Some of the examples that come to mind first are the black Charizard and the red Gyarados, but other creatures such as the black Rayquaza also stand out among official creations.
